Enzo

Age: 1 year old

IMG_4353March 18, 2014 – Enzo is going to his forever home tonite.

March 13, 2014 – Enzo is doing really well with a consistent routine and on-going training. He’s fully house trained now and will go outside in yard first thing in morning, he also gets two walks a day that he really enjoys. We are working on leash manners as he likes to pull a bit, he’s a smart puppy and sure in time he will do better with this. Enzo would do best in a home with a calm assertive leader who can provide positive reinforcement training techniques.

Enzo now rolls over in submission and is learning to be a follower, each day we see so much improvement. Enzo is a very adorable pup with his tongue hanging out, always looking for a rub or some play time. He likes to follow you around most the time, but will also play alone and be independent at times throwing his toys around up in the air. Enzo is sleeping in the crate in our room and will go in with a treat on his own, we will not hear a peep out of him til he hears us move in the morning. Enzo has met some dogs on his walks and at the vet, he gets along well with most dogs sometimes he can be bit too much for them as he’s still a puppy but with positive dog play time and socialization, this will improve in time.

March 4, 2014 – Enzo is an exuberant little guy full of puppy energy who needs a family with a strong commitment to discipline as he is displaying some dominant behaviours that need to be corrected, especially when around other dogs . He has had a temperament evaluation and we have been assured that his occasional bad behaviour can be overcome with proper training. Enzo was neutered less than two weeks ago and as his testosterone levels drop his behaviours should become much easier to correct. As a matter of fact during the last two days we have seen a drastic improvement in his behaviour. He is much calmer and responds more readily to verbal commands such as come and off. Enzo is bright and loving and so full of personality he will bring so much joy to the right family. He would do best in an active family as he his a pup who is always on the go. He loves toys, all toys. He loves to chase a toy down the hall or if you’re busy he will chew a bone or take a stuffed toy and throw it up in the air and then pounce on it.

February 22, 2014 – Enzo was neutered yesterday – he’s 11.5lbs. He’s back to his foster home for a smooth recovery. He’s getting his stitches removed in 2 weeks and will be brought up to date in his vaccination. Enzo is being treated for round worms. If you are interested in adopting Enzo, please contact us HERE.

February 19, 2014 – Enzo is adjusting well considering what he’s been through. He loves to play and has lots of good puppy energy. We are working on manners and socialization with other dogs/cats. Enzo needs a calm loving home and in return will give lots of puppy kisses and cuddles 🙂 He’s eating twice daily good quality food with herring oil added.
Enzo is sleeping in crate at night in our room to provide a stable and quiet environment for him. We’re in process of setting rules and boundaries as he’s still a puppy. He’s taking direction well and very smart little guy who only wants to please. He can be bit vocal when left alone but understandable for now til he adjusts to his routine. Enzo will need a family that is committed to provide on going care to an active puppy who loves to go for walks and play to keep him stimulated. He is a real cutie and has so much love to give even after all he’s been though he’s such a happy puppy with tail wagging constantly. Enzo is getting neutered this Friday will keep you posted on his progress.

February 16, 2014 – Enzo came in this afternoon – saved from a bad situation where he was abused by kids his entire short life. Enzo is only 1 year old; he will go to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up and to get vaccinated. We will then scheduled his neutering surgery. Enzo is only skin and bones at about app 10lbs and was only fed very poor quality dog treats. Stay tuned for more info on Enzo in the coming days.

Billie

Age: 3 years old

Maggie_CropFebruary 22, 2014 – Billie is gone to her forever home where she will share her life with a nice friendly dog.

Libbie

Age: 5 years old

Libby_CJApril 17, 2014 – Libby is going to her forever home tonite.

Bella

Age: 20 months old

IMG_4288February 25, 2014 – Bella is going to her forever home in a few weeks – she will sharing her life with a 5 month old pug brother.

February 13, 2014 – Bella continues to do very well and she is now definitely asking to go out to do her business and I find I don’t need to put her out nearly as often. Although she is a sweet little girl she is also stubborn and hates having her face cleaned and snout soother applied which she needs done often as her wrinkle seems to get irritated easily. She also resists having her nails trimmed and her ears cleaned but we are working on it. She is a bit of a cry baby and whines when she wants something, whether it’s just to get up on her foster daddy’s lap and especially when she’s hungry. She knows how everyone fits into the family and seeks out her human sister as dinner approaches as my daughter feeds the dogs their evening meal. Bella also makes good use of her front feet reaching out to pull things within easy reach or slapping you when you stop petting her.

February 4, 2014 – Bella is doing really well. She is an extremely affectionate happy dog. We have been able to get out quite a lot since the weather has improved and she absolutely loves running and jumping in the soft snow. She expects everyone she meets to greet her but I have noticed she is a little nervous around large dogs. She is bright and learns quickly responding well to praise and treats. She has only had a couple of accidents during the last week and for the last couple of days she has whined and run to the door when she needed to go out. For the last week she has had free access to most of the main floor even when I’m out. She is energetic and playful but doesn’t get into mischief. Bella has fallen in love with the younger of my two dogs and wants to be wherever he is and wants to play with him even when he doesn’t want to so we are working on boundries. She usually responds to a sharp NO or OFF but she is still a puppy and far more playful than her buddy so sometimes we need to take her away as she doesn’t recognize when Quincey tells her he’s had enough.

January 27, 2014 – Hi Genevieve – Bella is a sweet, playful little girl who loves everyone and is anxious to please. She has now taken an interest in her foster brothers and loves a good game of tug of war or a game of chase. She is a bright girl and very food motivated. She will sit, wait and come especially if she knows there is a treat involved. She is an outdoorsy girl who enjoys running and rolling in the snow as long as it’s not too windy outside. When Bella sees her leash she sits politely and waits for her harness to be put on. She waits while I open the door and doesn’t go out until she’s given the okay. She is still having the occasional accident in the house but that is improving and I have no doubt that she will be completely housebroken once the weather improves.

January 24, 2014 – Bella is doing really well. She had a few accidents yesterday but I think she is now getting the idea that she needs to go outside. She likes her new dog food and ate well. She whined a little bit in the car on the way home but she didn’t jump around but lay on the back seat. Her favourite spot to sleep is on the back of the sofa, am trying to get a picture of her. Her favourite toys so far are a Nyla bone and a hard rubber ball. She is definitely a people pug, doesn’t mind her foster brothers but doesn’t really pay much attention to them. She whined a little in the crate but she settled down well and slept most of the night. Also took her for a short walk and she walked well on the leash.

January 23, 2014 – Bella came in today. She is an owner surrender. She born on May 3, 2012 and she is spayed. Bella is a very friendly pug who LOVES people and gets along well with dogs. Bella will soon go to the vet for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination.

Stella

Age: 2 years old

StellaFebruary 1, 2014 – Stella is gone to her forever home today…….

January 17, 2014 – Stella was spayed today and the vet checked her back legs. She’s 11.5 lbs. She has hip dysplasia and grade 2/4 luxating patella on the left leg and grade 3 on the right one. Despite all that, she’s full of energy and plays like crazy and wrestle with the resident dog. Stella is going back to her foster family tonite for a quiet recovery. The vet recommends to put her on a supplement for her joints/articulations. Stella will get her stitches removed in 14 days.

January 7, 2014 -Stella is doing well, she plays well with the resident dog. She generally goes outside to do her business, but on those really cold days we had recently she’s had accidents in the basement even though I was trying to get her outside for lots of short trips. Stella is very cuddly and is great with our son, who carries her around and cuddles her quite a bit. With people, she generally just wants to cuddle up. She has occassionally plays with toys, but doesn’t bother with them that much. She does like to chew on Zoe sticks and chewies. There is something with stairs though. Often times, she has no issues with them, both up and down. Other times we have to carry her up the stairs. It’s usually at night when there are not many lights on, so I wonder if she sees well in dim light. Or it could be something with her legs, but her legs seem good and she has no problem tearing around with Stan, or running up and down the snow pile in the back yard, or jumping up on the couch. She sleeps very well at night. She doesn’t get up or wander at all. Stella is getting spayed on January 17 and will have her hind legs looked after and her eyes to make sure everything is good on that side.

December 30, 2013 – We got a 5kg black female pug this afternoon. We are going to give her a name soon. This little bundle of fur is affectionate and the greatest to bring for a car ride. She has a bit of skin problems on the back but the vet said it might be cause by food allergies or environmental reaction. This little girl will soon get spayed and have her hips checked as she seems to have arthritis in that region. Stay tuned for more info on this beautiful little girl. The vet estimated that she would be 2 years old and probably had puppies before.

Koukou

Age: 5 years old

Koukou_XmasJanuary 31, 2014 – Koukou is gone to his forever home…he will share his life with a SHih Tzu sister.

January 11, 2014 – Koukou had his teeth cleaned yesterday, he had only 2 removed and the rest were polished. Koukou has a mild ear infection that we are treating with Surolan – he will remain on Optimune for his eyes as he has dry eyes. Koukou is now 30lbs and he’s eating a grain-free fish based diet as he seems to be having a bit of food allergy. Koukou is a real gentleman and he is now ready to be adopted. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting Koukou.

January 7, 2014 – Koukou is doing very well and is losing weight nicely. He’s getting his teeth cleaned on January 10 and will then become available for adoption. Koukou is on a fish-based grain-free formula and he is doing very well on that diet. Stay tuned for more on Koukou later this week.

December 30, 2013 – Koukou is doing great! He had a nice Christmas surrounded by family both 2 legs and 4 legs. He got some stuffed squeaky toys that he loves 🙂
He’s a real sweetie who gets along well with everyone. He plays and get along well with other dogs.
Koukou’s skin is looking so much better now. He loves his food and will let out little squeaks and jump around when feeding time. He’s been sleeping in crate at night and will go in now on his own when it’s bed time. He loves blankets and will suckle carrying it around with him so cute to see. Koukou enjoys his walks but not for long with this cold weather he will let you know when it’s time to go back home ..for most part he’s been doing his business in the yard.

Koukou_fireplaceDecember 17, 2013 – Koukou is just an all around easy going boy. He’s a real sweetie who loves to sit at your feet and get some belly rubs. Loves to play with stuffed toys for bit then suckles his blanket which he carries around with him everywhere. With these frigid temperatures, Koukou hasn’t been going out for walks, for now he enjoys doing his business in the backyard. Breakfast/dinner time is his favorite time he will jump around and make cute whimpering noises as if to say “come on your taking too long where’s my food”. Koukou is very gentle in nature and not dominant at all, even when the resident pug goes over to his bowl for licks he’s fine with it. Koukou is on a grain-free formula of rabbit & whitefish and he is losing more weight, so someone who will keep up with this would be great. We are also adding herring oil on his kibbles daily to keep his skin nice and soft. Koukou loves his daily brushing sessions and he will sit right down for it. He does require eye drops twice daily as he has “dry eyes”. Koukou is very respectful of our the resident cat and dog so would do well in a home with or without other animals. He’s getting his teeth cleaned on Jan 10 and and he will then become available for adoption.

December 5, 2013 – Koukou is doing really well and adjusting to our routine. He’s a sweet big boy with lots of love to give. At first, he didn’t know how to go up and down stairs…then when he figured it out we couldn’t get him to stop hopping up and down them. He’ll lose those extra pounds in no time. He enjoys his daily walks and does well on leash. Koukou does like to play but not much, he would prefer to just sit by your feet and get lots of rubs and kisses. He loves all the attention and will follow you around most the time. Gets along great will all dogs and cats too!! Koukou is going to the vet tomorrow for a complete check up and he is scheduled to get his teeth cleaned on January 10.

December 1, 2013 – Koukou came in today from Mississauga. He’s an owner surrender and he weights 35.4lbs. Koukou is a sweetheart and is very kind with kids and dogs. He seems to LOVE to go for walks so it won’t be long before we bring him to a healthy weight. Koukou is neutered and will be getting his teeth cleaned in the coming weeks.

October 21, 2013 – Dannie is doing wonderful and healing nicely from her spaying. She is full of personality and character. Just such a sweet and funny puppy who loves to play and wants all your attention. She’s doing well on her walks and learning to walk beside us and not in front. Dannie makes us laugh every day and just loves to wear little sweaters and jackets and prance around the house. She is a real charmer with a beautiful face that nobody can resist kissing. Dannie did well at Brewer Park Farmers Market yesterday meeting people of all ages even some young ones, she was full of puppy kisses. Dannie requires some training still as she’s a puppy, so will need to go to home where they will work on her manner’s and socialize her daily. Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Dannie.

Rocco

Age: 3 1/2 years old

RoccoOctober 20, 2013 – Rocco is going to his forever home this Friday…(-:

October 13, 2013 – Rocco was neutered on Friday, he’s 21lbs of solid pug. Rocco LOVES to play and run so we will have to make sure he remains calm for the next 2 weeks. Rocco gets along well with other dogs and would make a great companion to an active family with ideally another dog to play with. Rocco is still a puppy and enjoys going for walks. Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Rocco.

October 10, 29013 – Rocco has a good first night in his foster home. He was busy exploring the house but settled in nicely for a good night sleep. He is fostered with 2 pugs and its going well. Jake

Age: 11 years old

Jill_Sad 2February 11, 2014 – Imagine being able to provide and care for this handsome senior gentleman; hopefully alongside his sister Jill, as they have never been separated. Imagine providing a warm, loving environment for these two that want only to please and love you more than they love themselves. UMWPR knew that when we agreed to take in and care for Jake and Jill that it may take awhile to find the perfect loving home that is able to care for two senior dogs. Jake and Jill may be aged, but are as happy and healthy as they come. They have both received clean bills of health, are relatively active for their age, have great clear eyes, and can keep up with you more than you think. Don’t be afraid of the seniors, they make for amazing companions – and cuddlers! If you think that you are able to provide Jake (and hopefully his sister Jill) a beloved home, or know someone who may be interested, please contact us HERE.

January 17, 2014 – Jake and Jill are doing great! They are sweet, gentle pugs. They are not barkers and even in the chaos of feeding time, they both sit quietly waiting for their food. Jake is the more laid back and quiet of the two. He loves nothing more than to curl up in his donut bed which sits nearby on the sofa. Jill prefers to stay right beside one of us. If we need to get up for any reason, she is right there with us. When we are not around, Jill tends to either climb into the donut bed with Jake, or she will lay on the edge of it. Jill is able to climb some stairs, but she would rather not. Jake on the other hand has no problem doing so. In the morning, Jake likes to follow me upstairs and sit at my feet while I get ready. He has the most gorgeous teddy bear face! You just want to squeeze him. Jill is a beautiful little girl who constantly watches us with her big bright eyes. They love to receive any attention you can provide and they are not afraid to ask for it either by putting their paws on you as if to say “Please give me some loving!”. They are a wonderful pair of seniors who are no trouble and are in great health. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting these 2 beautiful pugs.

November 18, 2013 – Please look at the beautiful faces of this bonded pair and consider providing them with their ultimate forever home. Jake and Jill are a docile pair who thoroughly take pleasure in all the cuddles and attention that they have been receiving since coming into the rescue. To no fault of their own, they look only for a place to be together until their final days. Jake and Jill are still full of much energy and joy and will add enchantment to any home. This pair could still stand to lose a couple of pounds and this should be no issue with constant walking and exercise. Should you be looking to add to your four-legged family or even start a new one, you will not be let down bringing this pair into your life. If you are interested in meeting Jake and Jill or know someone who may be able to love them forever.

J_JMonkeyNovember 6, 2013 – Jake & Jill are doing extremely well. They have settled into their new routine and accidents in the house are now few and far between. They are both easy going pugs but have no problem letting you know that they need some cuddle time. Jack is a real talker when he needs you. He will sit at the gate at the bottom of the stairs and let you know that he needs to come back down to him. Jill on the other hand is only vocal when exerting herself. She is so funny when going on walks or climbing the stairs to the second floor. They are such sweet pugs. We love having them around. They have lots of love to give. The other night they were actually play fighting with each other. It was so nice to see!

Jake_Feb15October 21, 2013 – Jake is such a sweet pug. His beautiful smile and kind nature will melt anyone’s heart. Jake LOVES the attention and is always looking for a hand to pet him. Jake would make an amazing companion to someone who is looking for a big teddy bear to cuddle with. Despite his age, Jake loves to go for walks and enjoyed lying in the sun at Brewer Park Farmers Market yesterday. He gets along very well with every dog. Please consider adopting this sweet boy, you won’t regret it.

October 10, 2013 – Jake had his teeth cleaned and he lost 2. Jake had a little lump near his right front paw but the vet said it is benign so he didn’t remove it. Jake has a mild ear infection so he will be going back home with Surolan. He’s also going back home with Metacam (pain killer) and Noroclav (antibiotics). If you are interested in opening your heart and home to this beautiful soul, please contact us HERE. A special adoption rate could be given for someone interested in adopting Jake & Jill together.

October 6, 2013 – This charmer arrived in with his sister yesterday afternoon and had a full afternoon of charming audiences at our Pet Valu info day. Weighing in at a hefty 25 lbs., Jake has been immediately put on a reduced intake diet and will start to walk off those pounds with this foster mom and sister. Jake is definitely a people pug, pawing my arm off as I type trying to get more loves. A perfect cuddler, fitting snuggly into the crook of your arm, Jake is surprisingly spry for his weight, although a little hesitant of the stairs at first. He is adapting to his new surroundings and is quite content to laze his day away lounging, in true pug style. Although currently separated, UMWPR would be thrilled to have Jake adopted along with his sister Jill, so that they may continue to live their lives together. Jake will visit the vet soon for a checkup and possible dental work. Stay tuned as we learn more about Jake.

October 5, 2013 – Please help us welcome our newest brother and sister addition, Jake and Jill. Due to their owner’s circumstance, this pair has been lovingly surrendered to us in order to find them their new forever home. Jake & Jill have lived their entire lives together and we will do our best to keep them together. Jake & Jill are both 11 years old and are in need of a new exercise and feeding regime that will whip them back into shape. Their ideal forever home(s) will walk them daily to help shed those extra pounds and will continue to love and spoil them as they are accustomed to being loved. Check back for updates on these two as we learn more about them through their foster families.
