Bambi

Age: 8 years old
Adoption Status:

UMWPR-BambiSeptember 25, 2013 – Bambi is going to her forever home in Sudbury today…..where she will share her life with a pug sister.

September 11, 2013 – Bambi is completely at home with us sleeping in a nest of blankets and pillows on the sofa or plopping herself down in the dog bed on the floor. She is a funny little girl insisting she needs to be picked up to get on the sofa yet when no one is around to help her she gets up all by herself. Occasionally she likes to play with stuffed animals and has pulled a toy out of the toy box and dragged it to the dog bed. She has even enjoyed a chew on a Nyla bone. Although she isn’t a big cuddler she is extremely affectionate and she likes to be close and of course she is always up for a belly or ear rub. Bambi is a clever little girl and has learned sit, wait, come and down(after only three tries). When she hears the words do you want to go for a walk her head pops up. She is so cute her tail wagging non stop as she patiently waits for her harness to be put on. She walks fairly well but is surprisingly strong for such a little dog when she decides there is something off the path she wants to sniff and she embraces all the attention she receives from the people we meet on our walks. Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Bambi.

September 5, 2013 – Bambi is a real sweetheart and she is settling in well. She is curious and bright I only had to show her where the water dish was once. The first couple of days she’d follow me and cry when ever I got out of her sight but today she is much more relaxed and although she likes to know where I am she doesn’t cry and follow me everywhere. I left her alone for a short time today and she was really good taking her cue from her foster brothers she waited in the family room for me to return. She is completely housetrained and now enjoys free run of the house. When excited she barks but stops quickly if you ignore her. She is learning sit, come and wait and she is beginning to listen. Today when I was talking to her she was tilting her head trying to understand what I was saying to her. She is a real people pleaser who just wants to be loved and receive endless belly rubs. Bambi knows what the leash means and is always eager to go out. She enjoys meeting people and other dogs when we go out and she is a good traveler lying quietly in the back seat of the car occasionally looking out the window.

August 25, 2013 – Bambi is adjusting well after her spaying and dental surgeries and finally gets to see what all the fuss about wet food was! Bambi has a wonderful appetite and will no doubt continue to put on some much needed weight, already gaining over a pound! We are working on helping Bambi learn both official languages, however, it is apparent that French is indeed her first language. Bambi is fully housetrained and an absolute darling who stares at you with those huge doe eyes, begging for a belly rub. I dare anyone to turn her down. Bambi is quite independent and does not seem to need the company of anopther dog around, although does not mind them being near. Bambi knows her basic commands and will adjust immediately to any surrounding, as long as she is pampered and spoiled as she should be. If you are interested in adopting Bambi, please contact us HERE for an application form.

August 24, 2013 – Bambi was spayed yesterday and she had her teeth cleaned. She lost 7 teeth and already had 8 missing. Bambi is now 14lbs and ready to be adopted.

Bambi_CJAugust 19, 2013– Bambi is loving and living life to the fullest right now; surrounded by foster sister and brothers, she is getting along well with all. Bambi gets especially excited to see her foster brother Midas and it seems that she will do well in a forever home with or without four legged friends. Bambi listens very well and does not seem intimidated by humans, although we have clearly been cruel to her in her past life. Bambi realizes that her new life has begun and is taking it by the reigns! Bambi loves to jump and run, and enjoys the outdoors immensely. We are going to try our darndest to bring Bambi up from her emaciated 13 pound weight with some healthy food. We are feeding her a little often in order not to distend her tiny belly. Bambi will be spayed this coming Friday and will have some much needed dental work done at the same time. Stay tuned to read more about Bambi and see how she is feeling after her upcoming surgeries.

August 16, 2013 – We thought that the name Bambi suited this poor little soul, uncared for for so long. Clearly neglected, Bambi was found stray and we were alerted to her need to be rescued just in time. Bambi was briefly seen by a vet at the shelter where she was first brought and they estimated her to be about 8 years old. Bambi will visit the vet tomorrow morning for a checkup. Bambi is severely emaciated and extremely underweight and for this reason, we will ensure that it is perfectly safe before we have her spaying and dental surgery scheduled. Bambi is quite active, extremely loving and cuddly and is very happy to be in a warm, comfortable home. Stay tuned for more news on Bambi in the next few days.

Conrad

Age: 7 years old
Adoption Fees: $300
Adoption Status:

Conrad_tongueSeptember 7, 2013 – Conrad is gone to his forever home today, he will be sharing his life with a boxer sister in the GTA.

September 4, 2013 – Conrad is still enjoying life to the fullest. He really LOVES his walks twice a day and boy can he go. He will run to the door and get all excited jumping up and down. He’s meeting lots of dogs on our walks. Gets along well with all even the ones that bark or growl at him, he will just walk right by them calmly. Conrad has some seasonal allergies right now and is itching/licking himself. He’s getting Benadryl to relief him. Conrad is not much of a barker and would do well in any type of home setting. He enjoys getting rubs behind his ears and will fall asleep while your doing it. We took Conrad out into the country this past weekend and he had a blast. Went in the lake swimming for this first time and really enjoyed being outdoors. Conrad was very friendly with any people we met and will warm up to just about anyone. He does well in the car and will just fall asleep. Even though Conrad has no teeth he still enjoys playing fetch and tug a war with his toys.

Chichi

Age: 6 1/2 years old
Adoption Status:

October 16, 2013 – Chichi is going to her forever home tomorrow where she will share her life with another dog.

October 12, 2013 – Chichi seems to appreciate her long walks and it has helped her burn her energy. She has calmed down and is much less vocal when she sees people walking by.
Chichi loves balls or any kind of toys and can play for hours.

October 2, 2013 – Chi Chi is a very playful pug who loves to encourage playing after dinner when her true spunk comes out! Chi Chi was not raised with rules or limitations and she is best suited to live in a forever home with active and experienced owners. Chi Chi is blessed with a magnificently soft coat and wonderful eyes, a true show stopper. Chi Chi recently visited the vet for her dental appointment and was not left with many teeth, although in true pug spirit, this has not limited her from eating! Are you able to provide Chi Chi with the structure and love that she needs? Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Chichi.

Chichi_FlowersSeptember 22, 2013 – ChiChi is making great strides in her foster home and is lapping up the love she receives from humans now, basking in all attention. Since all of this love is new to ChiChi, she is quite eager to let you know when you have stopped paying attention to her! ChiChi is very energetic and loves to walk and run, never complaining about heading out on the leash. Also new to ChiChi are rules and commands and she is coming along well with the basics right now (sit, come, etc.). ChiChi will benefit from an experienced family or home that can work with her and teach her the basics. ChiChi gets along well with other dogs and has even been caught cuddling up with her foster cat sibling whilst basking in the sunbeams.

September 10, 2013 – Chichi was spayed yesterday and everything went well. Chichi is 14lbs and will get her stitches removed in 2 weeks.

September 5, 2013 – Chichi is getting spayed this Monday and will have her teeth cleaned. Chichi is a great little pug who gets along well with other dogs.

UMWPR-ChiChi.jpgAugust 30, 2013 – ChiChi she’s doing wonderful. She walks really well on a leash and doesn’t pull or twist around your feet. Chichi will soon be spayed and become available for adoption.

August 25, 2013 – ChiChi had the full spa treatment this past weekend, a wonderful warm bath and a manicure and she was well behaved through the entire experience! ChiChi was also introduced to the wonderful world pof cleaning her face folds which was obviously completely new to her, again with little to no complaints. ChiChi is thoroughly enjoying this new world of being fed and often! We are helping ChiChi learn to slow down when eating and that begging from humans at the table is not acceptable. ChiChi is a curious little girl who seems to be okay in a home with cats and we are sure that she would adapt well to other four legged animals in the home. Stay tuned for more on ChiChi as she becomes closer to being ready for adoption.

August 18, 2013 – Chichi was at the vet on Friday and was brought up to date in her vaccination (DHPP + rabies). She’s actually in heat so we will have to wait 4 weeks before she gets spayed. Stay tuned for more news on Chichi in the coming days.

August 16, 2013 – Little ChiChi is a wonderful pug with a really forgiving nature. She doesn’t mind when our kitty cats brush up against her looking to cuddle. She likes to cuddle with us on the couch, but she sleeps soundly in her carrier at night – she wasnt even anxious her first night with us, she just went out like a light and slept til morning! Chichi came to us happy and trusting, and loves meeting new people. Shes somewhat shy and barks at new men, but once she sniffs them she calms down. She loves the smell of a dog chew we have but doesnèt chew it so she likely has some dental issues. Shes got that one tooth at the front that sticks out so we’ve nicknamed her Nanny McPhee haha!

August 12, 2013 – Chichi is adapting very well to her new life. She is going to the vet this coming Friday for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination. Chichi is in heat so her spaying surgery will be delayed a few weeks.

August 9, 2013 – Chichi came in from the same place as Tootsie and Conrad. A very sweet and active little girl. Chichi will soon visit the vet for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination. We will then schedule her spaying surgery and dental cleaning.

Ninette

Age: 10 years old
Adoption Status:

UMWPR-Ninette-11September 23, 2013 – Ninette has been adopted by her foster family…

September 22, 2013 – Don’t be fooled by the number next to Ninette’s age, she is an energetic and thoroughly active girl. Ninette’s frame is so wee that she is an absolute delight to cuddle with, never too heavy on your lap and no pointy elbows jabbing into your thighs! Ninette loves her daily walks and is the most perfect walking companion, as she waits for you if she is ahead and will catch up with you if she is found lagging behind. Ninette is 100% housetrained, which is an absolute delight for all! Please consider providing Ninette with her forever home or share with anyone that you think can provide her with a loving home. Contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Ninette.

September 7, 2013 – Ninette was at a fundraising event today and she was VERY happy to meet new people and get lots of attention and cuddles. Ninette is so loving and precious.

August 19, 2013 – Ninette is back in her foster home and after recovering fully her first night, is back in the swing of things. Due to her only 4 remaining teeth, Ninette is lucky enough to be on a soft food diet, making her foster brothers and sisters quite jealous! Ninette has not yet become accustomed to eating with her lack of teeth and takes a little while to get the job done, we will eventually introduce kibble into her diet, but she seems to only have eyes for the wet food at the moment. Ninette is clearly happy to have been rescued by UMWPR and is living in the lap of luxury; running around a fully fenced yard, sleeping all day, and being talked to and cuddled to her heart’s content. Ninette is quite independent and does not need to be with her humans at all minutes of the day.Happy to sleep the night away alone in her bed, Ninette is also quite independent of her foster brother and sisters. A lovely housetrained home addition, Ninette loves her walks and is quite polite on the leash. Ninette will be suited to a forever home with or without four legged friends, she will be a delightful addition to any home.

August 15, 2013 – Ninette is at the vet today to get spayed and have her teeth cleaned. Stay tuned for an update on Ninette later on today.

August 11, 2013 – My goodness, this little lady is the most darling thing on four legs. Ninette was a smart girl to stray, as it has landed her here, in total bliss. Ninette is very active for her age and packs quite a lot of spunk in her little 10 pound frame. Ninette is housetrained and loves being outside, touring the yard and smelling everything in sight. She is very friendly with her three other foster pug brothers and sister. Ninette is in dire need of a dental cleaning and will visit the vet this Thursday to have this done as well as getting spayed. She does not seem to have many teeth in her mouth as it is, so we will see what she is left with. Ninette is a very slow eater and should definitely be kept away from other pug or dog shaped sharks while she eats. She is quite content to get into bed and curl up with you for the night and absoluely loves the belly rubs. Ninette is a perfect companion in the car and appears to understand French as her primary language. Ninette loves to play and be chased and it seems that she would be very well suited for a forever home with or without other four legged friends. As far as houseguests go, Ninette is the best of the best and she is welcome here for as long as she needs!

August 9, 2013 – Ninette is a senior pug, the vet estimate her to be around 10 years old. She was found stray. Ninette has been vaccinated and will soon visit the vet for a complete check up and to be spayed & have her teeth cleaned. Ninette is a very friendly little girl, she weights about 11lbs.

Midas_CamoOctober 2, 2013 – Midas is gone to his forever home where he will be sharing his life with a pug brother.

T-Bone

Age: 6 years old
Adoption Status:

TBone_July_19August 18, 2013 – T-Bone has gone to his forever home, he will be sharing his life with a female Golden Doodle.

August 12, 2013 – T-Bone has had a fabulous week and we couldn’t be more pleased with his progress. This smart and spirited boy has been responding so well to the structure and rules that are now part of his everyday life. He is happy to listen and respond to any correction and tries very hard to follow the rules. When he hears a happy “GOOD BOY” from his proud foster mom when he’s done something really positive, it’s like he holds his head high and looks right into your eyes knowing he’s done something good. It’s very cute. As it is summer, someone has been home most of the time so his time alone has been extremely limited. When he is left alone for short periods he has full run of the house. We do, however, close bedroom doors and bathroom doors as he’s extremely curious about the garbage cans in hopes that someone left a candy wrapper that he can lick clean.

Shoney

Age: 11 years old
Adoption Status:

Shoney_June_12August 1, 2013 – Shoney is going to her forever home tomorrow. She will be living with a male pug who was adopted from UMWPR last year.

July 27, 2013 – Shoney is feeling 100% better than when she came in a few weeks ago. Not that her teeth have been cleaned, that she got spayed and had 3 tumours removed, had received antibiotics to treat her sore mouth and artificial tears for her eyes, she is ready for a bright and happy future. She has started to be playful and she is a real cuddle bug.

July 24, 2013 – Shoney seems to be doing much better with her new smile and the meds for her eyes. She has a good appetite and enjoyts that soft food. Shoney is nowavailable for adoption.

July 21, 2013 – The lab result came back negative for Shoney’s tumors so cancer is ruled out. Yeah….Shoney will soon be available for adoption.

July 17, 2013 – Shoney was spayed today, she had 2 tumors removed (they will sent to the lab for analysis), she had 10 teeth removed and had her eyes tested. Spaying surgery and tumors removal went very well. She had 16 teeth removed so she now has 8 teeth left. The Schirmer test (verifies tear production) came back with 1 on the left eye and 3 on the right which means her eyes produce next to no tears. She has been put on Tear Gel, Ciloxan (antibiotics) and Optimune and the vet wants to assess her back in one week. The pressure in her eyes is normal so glaucoma was ruled out. Shoney does have mild cataracts in both eyes which is quite normal given her age and she can see quite well. Despite all this, little Shoney has a good spirit and she’s a fighter. She was slowly waking up this afternoon when I called the clinic and is going back to her foster home tonite for a smooth recovery. Am sure that from now on, she will start feeling much better and her truth personality will come out. Stay tuned for more news about this exquisite little girl.

July 12, 2013 – Shoney went to the vet tonite. The vet estimated that she would be closer to 11 years old. SHe has some discomfort in her eyes but the vet was unable to do further testing as Shoney was moving too much. He will have more tests done to her eyes next week when she goes for her spaying surgery and her dental. He is suspecting that it might be glaucoma. She has been put on Tramadol for 10 days. Shoney weights 16lbs and she’s a sweet girl. She’s good with other dogs and follows you everywhere.

July 11, 2013 – Shoney is adjusting to her new environment. She’s more people oriented than dogs but she gets along well with them around her. Shoney is a little protective of her food so we are feeding her apart from the other dogs. She’s eating well and is going outside to do her business. She sleeps well through the night. Shoney will be visiting the vet tonite for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination.

July 9, 2013 – Shoney came in tonite. She was left in an appartment for a few days with another dog with no food or water. She was very dehydrated but never lost her good spirit. Shoney is about 9 yers old and she will be going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up. We will then schedule her spaying surgery and she will also need to have her teeth cleaned. Stay tuned for more info on this sweet little girl.
