LUCKY

Age: 11 years old
Adoption Fees: $300
Adoption Status:

December 30, 2017 – Lucky is gone to his forever home, he will share his life with a pug sister.

December 27, 2017 – Lucky is the happiest boy on earth always greeting people with a waggy tail.  Lucky recently had a urinary tract infection and was put on Urinary SO.  He is to get his urine analyzed again tomorrow.  This sweet boy loves everybody and get along very well with other dogs.

December 11, 2017 – Lucky had his teeth cleaned today and had 6 extracted (he was already missing 8). He also had a small growth removed from his left eyelid. He has stitches and needs to wear a cone to keep him from scratching at it while it heals.
Lucky is a happy boy that loves life. He loves to go for walks and ride in the car. He sleeps in his crate at night. He scratches at the patio door when he wants to go outside. He gets along well with the resident pugs but doesn’t really play with any toys.  He is a big cuddle bug and loves to give kisses.

December 7, 2017 – Lucky is a very happy boy, and is almost always smiling. He is a pretty active for his age.  He gets along well with the resident pugs and loves to go for walks with them to check out the neighborhood.  Lucky doesn’t really play with toys. Like most pugs he loves to snuggle and get belly rubs, and will follow you from room to room. (especially if you are going to the kitchen!) Lucky does his business out side and will go and stand at the patio door to go out. He does occasionally mark inside so he is wearing a nice belly band in the house. Lucky sleeps in his crate at night.

December 5, 2017 – Lucky went to the vet yesterday for a complete check up.  This handsome boy has a urinary track infection so he is now on antibiotics.  Lucky needs his teeth cleaned and he has a little cyst on his lower right eyelid.  Lucky’s dental procedure is scheduled for December 11.  Lucky is 21lbs.  His vaccination has been postponed until his UTI is healed.

December 3, 2017 – Lucky was surrendered by his owner.  He will be 11 in January.  Lucky is spayed and he gets along week with other dogs.  Lucky will be going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up.  Stay tuned for more on this sweet boy as we get to know his more.

DORA

Age: 6 1/2 years old
Adoption Fees: $300
Adoption Status:

December 12, 2017 – Dora went to her forever home today…(:

December 4, 2017 – Today we put up our Christmas tree. Dora was an enthusiastic bystander . We had some friends over with young children to help decorate. Dora cuddled them on the couch and supervised the festivities.

December 2, 2017 – Dora is doing well. We gave her a bath just now and changed her dressing. Dora’s got a bed full of toys and a blanket she loves to tussle with. I love how she comes to greet me at the door when I come home.

November 28, 2017 – Dora had an excellent first night in her new foster home. She was excited to explore the Centretown neighbourhood with all its sounds and smells, so we took her on a walk to Dundonald park and back before the snow fell. Then we came home and she finished her dinner with gusto.  We had friends with small children (4 and 6) over for dinner and she was curious and gentle with them, despite their shrieking and shenanigans. Dora loved playing with squeaky toys and would take them under the kitchen table where she could play uninterrupted. Her favourite thing is a good belly scratch. She’ll roll over and invite you to scratch her belly for full minutes at a time, urging you on with her paws in the air.  After dinner and company left, we took her out for a walk in the snow before bed. She examined every nook and cranny of her new neighbourhood very closely. She liked to lick the freshly fallen snow. Each noise was something to stop, pause and explore.  We gave her her pill before bed with a little bit of cheese as instructed and she cuddled up in our bed, sleeping on her back and breathing peacefully: a happy first night.

November 27, 2017 – Dora had her teeth cleaned and she lost only 1.  Dora had a broken nail that got infected so she has been put on antibiotics and will wear a bandage (that will have to be changed every 2 days) until it heals.  Dora loves to go for walks and enjoy playing with her stuffed animals.  Dora would probably be better as an only dog as she doesn’t like to share her toys or bed.  If you are interested in adopting Dora, please submit your adoption application.

November 21, 2017 – Dora went to the vet today for a complete check up and blood work.  We will get the results in a few days.  Dora is 27.8lbs, she needs to lose about 8lbs to be at a healthy weight.  Dora is getting her teeth cleaning this Friday and she will be ready to attend her first Adoption Awareness Event this Sunday at Pet Valu @250 Greenbank Road in Ottawa from 11AM to 3PM.

November 19, 2017 – Dora came in yesterday.  She was surrendered by her owner.  Dora is born on March 11, 2011 so she is 6 1/2 years old.  Dora is spayed and up to date in her vaccination.  She’s on Prednisone for skin issues .  Dora is going to the vet this Tuesday for a complete check up and blood work.  Dora is overweight and we will be working on slimming her down in the coming weeks.  Come and meet Dora this Sunday, November 26 at Pet Valu at 250 Greenbank Road on Nepean from 11Am to 3PM.

GUS

Age: 11 months
Adoption Fees: $575
Adoption Status:

December 1, 2017 – Gus is gone to his forever home today, he will share his life with a pug brother.

November 16, 2017 – Gus will be a great pug for a lucky family. He is smart. He is young and eager to learn and please you when you are consistent with direction, boundaries & rules. He’s quirky. He likes to take all his toys out of the toy box and then plays with the box. He is walking so well with Little Ray, the pug and, they still play together like tug of war with a toy or chase each other. He loves to be near you and loves to chew the Himalayan chew or his antler knob right at/on your feet and beside Ray. Gus would be great with a family that will keep him active and entertained and with another bigger playful dog to show him the ropes.  Gus is 24.7lbs
Note that Gus is still a puppy and would benefit and thrive in obedience training.  Gus is NOT suitable for life in an apartment and we won’t consider applications where applicants are gone all day.  Kids over 10 as he could jump and make younger ones fall.

November 13, 2017 – Due to the lack of time to take care of him, Gus was surrendered to us.  This handsome lad is going to be 1 on December 16.  He is neutered and up to date in his vaccination.  Gus will be going to the vet tomorrow for a complete check and to be microchipped.  Gus is a very energetic dog who gets along well with other dogs.  He loves to play with them and play tug of war.  Stay tuned for more on this sweet boy.

TURBO

Age: 9 1/2 months
Adoption Fees: $575
Adoption Status:

November 28, 2017 – Turbo has healed really nicely from being neutered. He is got his hind dew claw sutures removed and he is really excited about getting his cone removed. Turbo has never lifted a leg once and has never pooped in the house. He enjoys being praises for doing his business outside. He is very much a people pleaser. Turbo is a little insecure on walks. He is scared of your feet sometimes but he also heels pretty well with some correction. He is very smart. He loves going for walks and would probably really benefit from an active family. I am sure he would love to go for runs. Turbo is very polite when it comes to dinner time. He knows his food hits the floor last in our pack and he waits so patiently. He eats pretty quickly. He showed some interest in one of our resident pug’ s bowl and she let him know thats not allowed and he had never bothered again. He is also very gentle when given a treat it’s very sweet. He knows he must sit in his bed during our meal time. Turbo loves hard bones to chew on and chases balls. He loves stuffed animals too but he mostly just rips then apart. He also has chewed a blanket so that kind of stuff has to be kept away. He gets the zoomies just like the resident pugs.  Turbo will bark at loud noises but will stop when told. He doesn’t seem to mind the vacuum. He is pretty social with our dogs. I’m not sure if it’s just because he has been wearing a cone or not but he often shakes (like a dog does when he’s wet) and when he does his tail is like a whip. For that reason he would have to be watched when near small children. Turbo is one of the sweetest boys we have met. He loves attention and thrives with it. He follows you everywhere just like the resident pugs do. He always has to be touching you when laying on couch or floor. He is very sensitive.

Age: 2 1/2 years old
Adoption Fees: $500
Adoption Status:

November 5, 2017 – Poppy is gone to her forever home.  She will share her life with a 4 month old pug female and a 11 yr old female pug + she will spend her winters in Florida.

October 30, 2017 – Poppy is in a new foster family, she is now being fostered with Little Ray.  Both get along very well together.  Poppy can be a little timid at first but she quickly bond with the person who takes care of her.  Poppy is 13lbs.  Poppy would be happy in a home with another dog or with someone home all day.  She does love to run and play tug of war with other dogs.

POGO

Age: 12 1/2 years old
Adoption Fees: $300
Adoption Status:

December 24, 2017 – Pogo went to his forever home today.  He will share his life with Samson, the English Bulldog.

December 6, 2017 – Pogo is doing well and is such a pleasure to spend time with.  He is fully transitioned to his new food (Kangaroo & oat), and we are giving it a bit of time to see how he does.  He still has some itching, so licks his front left paw and scoots with his backside at times.  We have stretched his medicated baths out to every week and a half, but are still doing them as they definitely help. Pogo visited Alight at Night with us and was such a hit.  He was so gentle with the children who wanted to pet him and really soaks up the attention.  It definitely got him in the Christmas spirit 🙂

November 26, 2017 – This beautiful boy is still looking for his forever home.  Pogo is a cuddle bug and would make someone very happy.  He’s great with dogs and kids and has a very mellow temperament.  Pogo’s skin is doing very well and he only needs 1 medicated bath a week + continuing his kangaroo + oat diet.

November 21, 2017 – After six weeks, I finally finished my course of antibiotics! My skin is feeling much better and I am down to a bath once a week or so to keep things in check. I have been having a bit of redness and itching to my backside and paws from allergies, so I am trying a new food (kangaroo + oatmeal) to see if that will help with the last of the itching. Overall, my coat is lush and thick now.  Last week, I had my blood work rechecked as I had a few minor abnormalities previously, and everything was perfect now.  I had my dental cleaning yesterday. I had 8 teeth extracted and I already had 18 teeth missing in my wee mouth.  I felt a bit woozy when I first woke up from the anesthesia, but am feeling good now and ready to eat! I don’t have very many teeth left, so my foster mom soaks my food. I do love to eat and have perfected my begging eyes.  My back right leg gets a bit stiff sometimes with this cold weather, but it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying short walks and trotting around the house. I took a road trip to Sudbury last weekend and was told I am an excellent passenger. I am also good at cuddling on the couch (and bed if you let me up!!)  The vet tech cleaned my ears, clipped my nails and inserted a microchip after my surgery, so I am feeling ready to show off to my potential forever family.

November 20,  2017 – Pogo is doing very well.  His fur is getting better every day.  Pogo is going to the vet today to get his teeth cleaned and get up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.  This exquisite gentleman will be available for adoption in the coming days.  Pogo is by far, the sweetest soul in the world.

October 30, 2017 – Pogo is such a sweet gentleman, he’s the most easy going pug we’ve seen.  He gets along with every dog and he loves everybody.  Pogo is still on antibiotics until next week then the vet will recheck his skin.  It looks much better than he first came to us.  He is still getting bathed twice a week with medicated shampoo and a gel is being applied to his dry sore spots to make it heal.  Pogo will soon get his teeth cleaned and he will be available for adoption.

October 17, 2017 – The vet was pleased with Pogo’s progress in terms of his skin. We will continue his course of antibiotics for another few weeks and reassess.  We will also continue his daily cleaning of his folds – this will be an ongoing maintenance issue. His ear cleaning and medicated baths will be reduced to 1-2 times per week.  While at the vet, they took blood and expressed his anal glands.  Next steps will include dental surgery, trialing an anti-inflammatory for his hind leg, and possibly starting a hypoallergenic diet.  Pogo is taking it all in stride and was quite pleased with himself today.  Come and meet Pogo this Sunday, October 22 at the Howl.O.Ween Pawty at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre in Ottawa from 12 to 330PM.

October 1, 2017 – Pogo has settled well here. I have been soaking his food which he enjoys and his appetite has been good. Only one accident in the house, so I’d say house training is good.  Pogo was at the vet on Tuesday September 26 and we are starting the following regime with a plan to reassess on October 11:
– Twice daily oral antibiotics
– Daily ear drop
-Daily cleaning of folds, toes & groin with antibiotic gel
– Three times weekly medicated bath
– Ear cleaning every two days
Pogo is very friendly and enjoys other pets.  He does like having his crate for a little downtime.

September 24, 2017 – Pogo came in yesterday.  He was surrendered by his owner.  Pogo is 12 1/2 years old and he is neutered.  His skin is in very bad shape with hot spots and scabs all over his body.  Despite his condition, Pogo is a real sweetheart.  He gets along well with other dogs and he’s the sweetest boy.  Upon his arrival, he had a nice bath and we were able to cut his nails without any fuss from Mr. Pogo.  Pogo is going to the vet this coming Tuesday for a complete check up and blood work.  Stay tuned for more on this exquisite furry boy.

DEUCE

Age: 5 yrs and 11 months
Adoption Fees: $400
Adoption Status:

September 25, 2017 – Deuce has been adopted by his foster family….(:

September 21, 2017 -Deuce has happily tucked himself into his bed after a long day at the Vet to get his teeth cleaned; he lost 7 teeth and already 3 were missing.  His mouth is now all shiny and he will be undergoing some treatment for yeast infection in his ears.  Deuce has lost 1lb since his last weigh in 11 days ago, coming in at a hefty 31.5lbs, so we are starting to see some of the weight come off slowly but surely. Deuce is a happy playful guy who is certainly bringing much joy to the resident kids & pug.  He love, LOVES his squeaky toys, walks & belly rubs.

September 7, 2017 – Deuce had a great long weekend and took to camping like a champ!  He is a very energetic pug despite the extra pounds he is carrying.  He loves to play with soft toys, hard toys & blankets. Deuce loves cuddles & snuggles; he is great with kids and is coming to an understanding with the resident pug that he does not in fact rule the roost, and has to share the people and toys.  He is taking a few short walks a day and those are going very well.  Deuce is going to the vet tomorrow for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.

August 31, 2017 – Deuce arrived today.  He is an owner surrender.  Deuce will be 6 on October 10.  Deuce is neutered.  He is good with other dogs and kids.  Deuce will be going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.  Deuce is very overweight and starting today, will be on limited food intake and slow and regular walks.  Now that the weather is getting cooler, it will be easier on this boy.  Come and meet Deuce this Saturday, September 2 at Pet Valu Glebe (Bank at Strathcona) from 10AM to 4PM.

She is a very different dog than when we first got her.  She acts like a little puppy at times, she loves to play. She would need someone who could give her a lot of exercise and attention.  She is getting more and more cuddly each day and seeks out to be petted.  She is getting more trusting of everyone.  She is learning that she is safe in this environment.  At night she sleeps in a crate with her blanket.  She likes her new food and eats well with the other dogs.  She really likes her walks and walks very well on a leash.  Daisy is getting spayed soon.
