POGO

Age: 12 1/2 years old
Adoption Fees: $300
Adoption Status:

December 24, 2017 – Pogo went to his forever home today.  He will share his life with Samson, the English Bulldog.

December 6, 2017 – Pogo is doing well and is such a pleasure to spend time with.  He is fully transitioned to his new food (Kangaroo & oat), and we are giving it a bit of time to see how he does.  He still has some itching, so licks his front left paw and scoots with his backside at times.  We have stretched his medicated baths out to every week and a half, but are still doing them as they definitely help. Pogo visited Alight at Night with us and was such a hit.  He was so gentle with the children who wanted to pet him and really soaks up the attention.  It definitely got him in the Christmas spirit 🙂

November 26, 2017 – This beautiful boy is still looking for his forever home.  Pogo is a cuddle bug and would make someone very happy.  He’s great with dogs and kids and has a very mellow temperament.  Pogo’s skin is doing very well and he only needs 1 medicated bath a week + continuing his kangaroo + oat diet.

November 21, 2017 – After six weeks, I finally finished my course of antibiotics! My skin is feeling much better and I am down to a bath once a week or so to keep things in check. I have been having a bit of redness and itching to my backside and paws from allergies, so I am trying a new food (kangaroo + oatmeal) to see if that will help with the last of the itching. Overall, my coat is lush and thick now.  Last week, I had my blood work rechecked as I had a few minor abnormalities previously, and everything was perfect now.  I had my dental cleaning yesterday. I had 8 teeth extracted and I already had 18 teeth missing in my wee mouth.  I felt a bit woozy when I first woke up from the anesthesia, but am feeling good now and ready to eat! I don’t have very many teeth left, so my foster mom soaks my food. I do love to eat and have perfected my begging eyes.  My back right leg gets a bit stiff sometimes with this cold weather, but it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying short walks and trotting around the house. I took a road trip to Sudbury last weekend and was told I am an excellent passenger. I am also good at cuddling on the couch (and bed if you let me up!!)  The vet tech cleaned my ears, clipped my nails and inserted a microchip after my surgery, so I am feeling ready to show off to my potential forever family.

November 20,  2017 – Pogo is doing very well.  His fur is getting better every day.  Pogo is going to the vet today to get his teeth cleaned and get up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.  This exquisite gentleman will be available for adoption in the coming days.  Pogo is by far, the sweetest soul in the world.

October 30, 2017 – Pogo is such a sweet gentleman, he’s the most easy going pug we’ve seen.  He gets along with every dog and he loves everybody.  Pogo is still on antibiotics until next week then the vet will recheck his skin.  It looks much better than he first came to us.  He is still getting bathed twice a week with medicated shampoo and a gel is being applied to his dry sore spots to make it heal.  Pogo will soon get his teeth cleaned and he will be available for adoption.

October 17, 2017 – The vet was pleased with Pogo’s progress in terms of his skin. We will continue his course of antibiotics for another few weeks and reassess.  We will also continue his daily cleaning of his folds – this will be an ongoing maintenance issue. His ear cleaning and medicated baths will be reduced to 1-2 times per week.  While at the vet, they took blood and expressed his anal glands.  Next steps will include dental surgery, trialing an anti-inflammatory for his hind leg, and possibly starting a hypoallergenic diet.  Pogo is taking it all in stride and was quite pleased with himself today.  Come and meet Pogo this Sunday, October 22 at the Howl.O.Ween Pawty at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre in Ottawa from 12 to 330PM.

October 1, 2017 – Pogo has settled well here. I have been soaking his food which he enjoys and his appetite has been good. Only one accident in the house, so I’d say house training is good.  Pogo was at the vet on Tuesday September 26 and we are starting the following regime with a plan to reassess on October 11:
– Twice daily oral antibiotics
– Daily ear drop
-Daily cleaning of folds, toes & groin with antibiotic gel
– Three times weekly medicated bath
– Ear cleaning every two days
Pogo is very friendly and enjoys other pets.  He does like having his crate for a little downtime.

September 24, 2017 – Pogo came in yesterday.  He was surrendered by his owner.  Pogo is 12 1/2 years old and he is neutered.  His skin is in very bad shape with hot spots and scabs all over his body.  Despite his condition, Pogo is a real sweetheart.  He gets along well with other dogs and he’s the sweetest boy.  Upon his arrival, he had a nice bath and we were able to cut his nails without any fuss from Mr. Pogo.  Pogo is going to the vet this coming Tuesday for a complete check up and blood work.  Stay tuned for more on this exquisite furry boy.
