T-Bone

Age: 6 years old

TBone_July_19August 18, 2013 – T-Bone has gone to his forever home, he will be sharing his life with a female Golden Doodle.

August 12, 2013 – T-Bone has had a fabulous week and we couldn’t be more pleased with his progress. This smart and spirited boy has been responding so well to the structure and rules that are now part of his everyday life. He is happy to listen and respond to any correction and tries very hard to follow the rules. When he hears a happy “GOOD BOY” from his proud foster mom when he’s done something really positive, it’s like he holds his head high and looks right into your eyes knowing he’s done something good. It’s very cute. As it is summer, someone has been home most of the time so his time alone has been extremely limited. When he is left alone for short periods he has full run of the house. We do, however, close bedroom doors and bathroom doors as he’s extremely curious about the garbage cans in hopes that someone left a candy wrapper that he can lick clean.

Shoney

Age: 11 years old

Shoney_June_12August 1, 2013 – Shoney is going to her forever home tomorrow. She will be living with a male pug who was adopted from UMWPR last year.

July 27, 2013 – Shoney is feeling 100% better than when she came in a few weeks ago. Not that her teeth have been cleaned, that she got spayed and had 3 tumours removed, had received antibiotics to treat her sore mouth and artificial tears for her eyes, she is ready for a bright and happy future. She has started to be playful and she is a real cuddle bug.

July 24, 2013 – Shoney seems to be doing much better with her new smile and the meds for her eyes. She has a good appetite and enjoyts that soft food. Shoney is nowavailable for adoption.

July 21, 2013 – The lab result came back negative for Shoney’s tumors so cancer is ruled out. Yeah….Shoney will soon be available for adoption.

July 17, 2013 – Shoney was spayed today, she had 2 tumors removed (they will sent to the lab for analysis), she had 10 teeth removed and had her eyes tested. Spaying surgery and tumors removal went very well. She had 16 teeth removed so she now has 8 teeth left. The Schirmer test (verifies tear production) came back with 1 on the left eye and 3 on the right which means her eyes produce next to no tears. She has been put on Tear Gel, Ciloxan (antibiotics) and Optimune and the vet wants to assess her back in one week. The pressure in her eyes is normal so glaucoma was ruled out. Shoney does have mild cataracts in both eyes which is quite normal given her age and she can see quite well. Despite all this, little Shoney has a good spirit and she’s a fighter. She was slowly waking up this afternoon when I called the clinic and is going back to her foster home tonite for a smooth recovery. Am sure that from now on, she will start feeling much better and her truth personality will come out. Stay tuned for more news about this exquisite little girl.

July 12, 2013 – Shoney went to the vet tonite. The vet estimated that she would be closer to 11 years old. SHe has some discomfort in her eyes but the vet was unable to do further testing as Shoney was moving too much. He will have more tests done to her eyes next week when she goes for her spaying surgery and her dental. He is suspecting that it might be glaucoma. She has been put on Tramadol for 10 days. Shoney weights 16lbs and she’s a sweet girl. She’s good with other dogs and follows you everywhere.

July 11, 2013 – Shoney is adjusting to her new environment. She’s more people oriented than dogs but she gets along well with them around her. Shoney is a little protective of her food so we are feeding her apart from the other dogs. She’s eating well and is going outside to do her business. She sleeps well through the night. Shoney will be visiting the vet tonite for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination.

July 9, 2013 – Shoney came in tonite. She was left in an appartment for a few days with another dog with no food or water. She was very dehydrated but never lost her good spirit. Shoney is about 9 yers old and she will be going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up. We will then schedule her spaying surgery and she will also need to have her teeth cleaned. Stay tuned for more info on this sweet little girl.

Goderick

Goderick_JulyJuly 21, 2013 – Goderick is gone to his forever home this morning……where he will be spoiled by his new family.

July 13, 2013 – Goderick was at the vet yesterday for x-rays of his hind legs. He has mild hip dysplasia on the left side but for now (this is a genetic problem), the vet recommended to put him on glucosamine. He’s not in pain or in discomfort. With age, this problem could get worse and could require surgery if Goderick starts limping or showing signs of discomfort. Pleae contact us if you are interested in adopting this beautiful and sweet little guy.

July 8, 2013 – Goderick is an absolute joy to have around our home. He is really quite the charmer and gets lots of attention from people everywhere we go. Goderick enjoys playing fetch and ball, he can be active at times but also loves to just cuddle up with you on the couch. We had friends over for dinner with their puppy and Goderick played so well with him. Gets along with calm or active dogs he really is a very versatile little guy. He’s been getting walks twice a day and he’s getting much better at walking beside us, will still bark a little at other dogs but will a correction on leash he will stop. He was walking little funny so we took him to the vet for exam. The vet noticed he was in little pain when maneuvering his hind legs and recommended an x-ray to follow up to see what’s going on. He’s scheduled this Wednesday and will keep you posted on his progress. His hind legs do not stop him from being active and loves going on long walks.

Goderick_JuneJune 23, 2013 – Godrich is doing wonderful adjusting to his new environment. He sleeps well in crate at night in our bedroom and may whimper little in morning to let you know he has to go out. Considering he just was neutered few days ago, still has good energy and loves to play with squeaky toys or balls. We are working on leash manners and he’s doing great. He’s a very confident walker with a little bounce in his step lol! He will bark at dogs coming toward us, with a slight tug on his leash he does stop. Will come when called really smart little guy. Knows sit and stay. He’s just such a cute little teddy bear and loves to cuddle right up with you on your lap. He will follow you everywhere and enjoys lots of attention. Can be little vocal at times and doesn’t like to be left home alone, we are working on this and he’s progressing each day feeling more comfortable and calm. Godrich would do well in home with or without dogs/cats. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting Goderick.

June 21, 2013 – Goderick was neutered yesterday. He is recovering well. His appetite is good and he’s on pain meds for next couple days. He weighs 14.6 lbs tiny stocky little guy – all the staff at vet office just LOVED him! No accidents in house, sleeps well in crate. He is playful and loves to pay fetch but he’s also a couch potato. Just an all around wonderful little guy who is coming along well. Goderick is getting his stitches removed in 2 weeks and he will be brought up to date in his vaccination at the same time. He will soon be available for adoption.

IMG_3568June 19, 2013 – Goderick is an owner surrender. He is born on July 1, 2011. Goderick is not neutered. He’s a very nice pug who gets along well with dogs, cats and kids. He will go to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up and to get neutered.

Gigi

Cleo

Age: 8 years old

IMG_3478June 12, 2013 – Cleo is going to her forever home tonite, have a good life little meatball.

June 11, 2013 – Cleo is getting vaccinated tomorrow and she will be ready to go to her forever home shortly after. Cleo will be sharing her life with a pug female adopted from UMWPR last year.

June 6, 2013 – Cleo had her teeth cleaned this morning, she lost 15 teeth and was already missing 3. Cleo is a chunky 20lbs girl and she is waking up from the anesthesia nicely. She will be ready to go to her foster home today and will be brought up to date in her vaccination next week. Cleo would do good with or without another dog. Cleo is on a weight reduction program (less food intake – more exercise) as she would benefit from shedding 2-3lbs. Cleo is a joy to have around and a very easy going pug. If you are interested in adopting Cleo, please submit your adoption application form.

June 4, 2013 – Acting like she has always been a fixture in our home, Cleo is a funny pug with loads of personality packed into her little body. Cleo has been put on an immediate diet and we will ensure that she loses the 2-3 pounds needed to take the pressure off her little legs and will help her heavy breathing. Cleo is very active for her age and girth and it is an absolute joy to see her tear around the backyard with not only her bum down in true pug fashion, but with her whole body close to the ground, running in circles; I am still laughing thinking about it! Cleo sleeps like a rock with her foster brother and sister in the big bed and is obviously extremely cuddly. Cleo has had a bath, her nose has been brought back to a nice smooth service (thanks to the Natural Dog Snout Soother), she has had her nails done and she will visit the vet this coming Thursday for a checkup and a teeth cleaning. As we learn more about Cleo, we will be sure to keep everyone posted – stay tuned!

June 2, 2013 – Cleo came in today. Her owner very sadly had to part from her due to health issues. He loved her a lot. Cleo is spayed and appears to be getting along well with other dogs. Cleo will be going to the vet this week for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination. Stay tuned for more info on Cleo in the coming days.
