June 5, 2014 – Sushi is going to her forever home this Saturday. She will be sharing her life with a kind Golden Retriever.
May 22, 2014 – Sushi had her appointment with Dr. Bacon (orthopedic specialist) yesterday. He has concluded that the problem with her hinds legs is neurological; meaning that at some point in her young life she suffered a spinal cord injury causing a disruption in the signals between her hind end and her brain. Although this makes her a little more vulnerable it by no means makes her an invalid. Sushi should however avoid rough play and slippery surfaces where she may fall as she can be knocked over easily; but walking especially on uneven terrain will not only improve her muscle strength it will also improve the connection between her legs and brain improving her balance so she should walk every day to make her stronger and she LOVES walking. Sushi was an excellent patient repaying Dr. Bacon with a wagging tail and sloppy kisses. This little pug is very smart and eager to learn new things; not only does she understand sit she is also doing well with come and leave it. She is such an easy girl to care for; needing only some regular exercise, a few treats and lots of love. Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Sushi.

May 9, 2014 – Rosie is going to her forever home tomorrow..(-:
April 15, 2014 – Imagine your life, although not great, is turned upside down and you are thrown into a new world of new challenges and experiences. We are always amazed at the tenacity of the pugs in our care, so eager to learn and adapt at our feet. Rosie has returned from the vet with five less teeth but with a breathtaking smile and an amazing new outlook on life. No longer able to be used for her body, Rosie is adapting wonderfully every day to her new life of love and freedom. Rosie is learning that the leash means roaming in the outdoors where she is being introduced to so many new things; grass, rocks, and so much fresh air. Rosie has learned that stairs may be the path to the giant beds that hold her caring humans, a magnificent place where cuddles are given amongst warmth and so many pillows! Rosie is a compact pug at 16.3 lbs. and is loving life – are you able to introduce her to all the wonderment that life beyond a cage has to offer? If you are interested in meeting or adopting Rosie, please contact us HERE……
April 2, 2014 – Rosie was at the vet last night for a complete check up. Everything looks good. Her heart is fine and she seems in good health. Rosie was brought up to date in her vaccination and will be spayed and have her teeth cleaned in the coming weeks.
March 31, 2014 – Rosie came in yesterday. She will be going to the vet this week for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination. Rosie will also be spayed soon. Stay tuned for more info on this beautiful girl.

May 1, 2014 – Cher will be going to her forever home in 2 weeks. She will be living with a pug brother.
April 22, 2014 – Cher had her last vet appointment today, and got her vaccinations and had her eyes checked. No major problems were identified. We had noticed that she did not seem to see well. The vet confirmed that she can see, but speculated that because of her poor health history, it may be that her eyes had had some problems in the past that weren’t treated properly and they had deteriorated affecting the quality of her vision. She was a trooper through it all, and is now relaxing at home.
April 15, 2014 – Much like her fellow friends, Cher is adapting to life on this side. Cher is holding her own with other animals and is intrigued no matter the size and after settling in, Cher has developed a love of playing with two and four legged beings. Cher seems to be getting along with children and would therefore do well in a home with or without children or pets. With a proud new smile and love in her life, Cher is also content to sashay on her walks, strutting for the neighbourhood. A proud pug indeed. Like so many of our adoptees, Cher is made of 90% Velcro that is attracted 100% to human legs. Cher wants to share her life with humans and show them that she is so worthy of love.
April 14, 2014 – Cher had 7 teeth extracted last Friday. She needs to eat soft food for the next little while. She mastered the short flight of stairs on the back porch, and has also mastered going up the big flight inside the house. She still asks for help going down that one, but I think she’s really tempted to try it on her own…maybe she will once she’s recovered.
April 4, 2014 – Cher was at the vet yesterday and she has very bad teeth. She has a bit of dry eyes so she has been prescribed eye drops. Cher is getting her teeth cleaned on Friday April 11 and will be brought up to date in her vaccination once she’s completely recovered from the dental procedure. We have confirmed that Cher has been spayed in February 2013.
April 2, 2014 – Things are looking up! Cher has begun to come out of her shell. She is roaming the house on her own more and is wagging her tail (well, really, her whole back end) quite a bit. She is now eating full meals with the other animals, although she still needs to be enticed with a little gravy on her kibble. Despite a very slow and stubborn start, she has progressed from refusing to walk on a leash to happlily trucking down the sidewalk on short walks and she also enjoys wandering around in the backyard with Stanley, the resident dog. She has also improved with her stair climbing (up, not down…we’ll work on that later) and has jumped up on the couch twice all by herself. She has engaged with Stanely in a some playtime, although that was followed by some huffing and puffing and a nap. All this exercise is definitely new to her, but should help to make her a little less roly-poly… Cher will be visiting the vet tomorrow for a complete check up.
March 31, 2014 – Cher came in yesterday. She’s 5.5 years but could lose a few lbs. Cher will be visiting the vet this week for a complete check up. Stay tuned for more info on this plumpy girl.
