December 20, 2019 – Olive went to her forever home today, she will be living with a sweet Golden Retriever and a work from home mom & dad.

December 12, 2019 – Sweet little Olive continues to do well.  Her confidence is growing and there are no signs now of separation anxiety.  As a matter of fact, when she knows I am leaving and she is not coming, she just climbs into one of the dog beds with her foster brothers.  Today, she didn’t even come to the door when I left.  When I return home, her little bum wags but she is no longer super excited.   Around the house, she has also started to give me space only following on my heels about 80% of the time now.  Each morning after our walk, she and Peanut, the resident pug, play a little.  She still gets over excited but she comes every time I call her which helps the excitement level.  I think Olive would do really well with an older calm small dog and a home where she isn’t left alone for long periods of time.   This petite girl has proven to be a really good sprinter always beating her foster brothers when they race across the field.  When she reaches her foster mom, she sits proudly and waits for her reward.  Olive responds really well to positive reinforcement whether it be a tiny treat or verbal praise.

December 5, 2019 – Little Miss Olive is doing fantastic and is slowly becoming a snuggle pug.  She will now sleep on my lap or pressed against my leg.  At first, she would climb up on my lap give me a kiss and then settle at the other end of the sofa.   Her favourite word is walk. This little pug makes an excellent walking partner.  After a few minutes of sniffing and doing her business, Olive walks with purpose and no longer pulls on the leash.  She doesn’t seem bothered by the weather so far and has no objections to wearing a coat and boots although she has very small feet and the boots tend to fall off.  Olive is insecure and needs a calm environment.  She shy’s away from loud voices and large sudden movements.  Olive doesn’t really socialize with her foster brothers but  their calm demeanor  helps her feel more secure.  When I came home the other day, Olive and two of her foster brothers were altogether in one dog bed.  Olive is a sweet spunky girl and a joy to foster.

November 26, 2019
– Olive is doing well, for the most part she is sweet, gentle and well behaved.
She went to the vet last week and got brought up to date in her vaccination.  Olive is highly excitable and when Peanut invited her to play just before dinner yesterday, the game quickly turned into a fight with little Olive being the aggressor.  This didn’t really surprise me as she gets very excited –  for example, when I get out her harness + she does suffer with separation anxiety. We are working on that by ignoring her until she calms herself.  She has had one accident in the house while I was out, but she peed by the back door.  I’m fairly certain it was caused by anxiety as she is completely house broken and doesn’t need to pee more often than usual when we are home.
Olive loves to go out.  At first, she was all over the place while we were walking, crossing back and forth around my legs but I noticed a considerable improvement today.  She seems to have plenty of energy, loves to give kisses and one of her favorite activities is rolling and hiding in a pile of blankets.  Olive is very bright and responsive.  She always comes when I say her name.  Today, she impressed me by sitting and waiting when I opened and went out the front door only coming when I called her. Olive is a darling and is already very bonded to her foster Mom.

November 21, 2019 – Olive was surrendered by her owner who couldn’t care for her anymore.  Olive is born on April 28, 2010 so she is 9 1/2 years old.  Olive is spayed and had her teeth cleaned recently.  She’s an energetic girl who gets along well with dogs.  Olive is going to the vet today for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination and microchipped.  Stay tuned for more on this sweet little girl.
