Norman

Age: 6 years old

Norman24March 2 2015 – Norman is gone to his forever home today.

February 17, 2015 – Norman has fully recovered from his surgery, and is padding happily around the house with Stan, the resident dog, or chilling out by the fireplace. He made the trek to the cottage for the Family Day weekend, and was a perfect gentleman on the long car ride and settled in there quite nicely with lots of new people (including small children) and a new dog friend too. He hasn’t had any seizures since the last one reported on February 7th. He still occasionally barks at and chases his back end, but not as much as previously. He is very sweet and is becoming quite the cuddler. He is still sometimes marking in the house, but I’m hoping that will diminish with his surgery and/or warmer weather. Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Norman.

Ziggy

Age: 8 years old

April 10, 2015 – Ziggy is en route to his forever home…..he will be flying tomorrow morning to Thunder Bay where he will share his life with a loving family and a 9 year old pug brother. We will never be able to thank Pilots and Paws enough for making this happen.

March 28, 2015 – Ziggy is doing much better than he was this morning. He managed to gobble down his bland diet supper in true pug fashion! There has been no vomiting today and no coughing since this morrning. Ziggy was checked all over at the vet. His lungs are still good and clear and there seemed to be no obstructions in his bowels/intestines. The results of a fecal sample showed some mild coccidia (parasites) so Ziggy is on a specific antibiotic to treat that for the next week. Blood work was also taken just to rule out any possible underlying causes as well. In true Ziggy fashion, this sweet boy was a trooper at the vet and sat calmly while he was examined

March 27, 2015 – Ziggy started having diarrhea and has been vomiting since yesterday. We put him on ground beef and rice and this morning, he started coughing and he refused to eat. Ziggy is going back to the vet this morning. An update will be posted on the website shortly. Keep this beautiful and cuddly boy in your thoughts and prayers.

March 7, 2015 – Our sweet Ziggy is feeling so much better and is hardly coughing anymore. He is resting a lot of the day but we’re seeing his playful side once again. He’s eating his regular kibble well and taking his medicine well. I am slowly trying to wean Ziggy off of the Vanectyl-P that he’s been taking for allergies and things are going well. He’s down to 1/2 pill every third day and next week I’ll be switching that to every fourth day. Ziggy loves to cuddle and follow his foster mom everywhere–including waiting with his body pressed up against the bathtub while she’s in the shower. Ziggy is so easygoing and so easy to love. He is calm, quiet, patient, and has zero behavioural issues. He is an absolute joy to have in our home.

ZiggyMarch7March7March 3, 2015 – Ziggy is doing better and better every day. He’s more relaxed and gets much needed rest in his crate.

March 2, 2015 – Ziggy is back to hos fister home for a nice recovery. He is on amoxicillin and Baytril for 2 weeks and has to remain calm. Ziggy hasn’t lost his happy spirit and eat and drinks normally.

March 1, 2015 – Ziggy was brought to the emergency hospital yesterday. He was having difficulty breathing and was vomiting. He ha aspiration pneumonia and the vet kept him for the night under oxygen and IV and he has been prescribed antibiotics. Will have more news today. Stay tuned and send good vibes for Ziggy’s quick recovery.

February 23, 2015 – Ziggy loves his walks. He gets so excited when his sweater and collar go on. He can walk for 20 min. As long as temp is above -10. He’s an absolute dream on a leash. Ziggy is very clean and does all of his business outside. He typically needs to go out 3-4 times a day to do his business if it’s too cold for walks. Otherwise he will do it during walk. Although he has limited vision, he manages very well. He is no longer itchy at all and his skin is nice and healing, and fur continues to thicken up. If you are looking for a close companion and are willing to look after his safety needs of limited vision (mostly stairs), you will not find a more loyal and loving friend. Please contact us HERE if you are interested in adopting Ziggy.

February 17, 2015 – Ziggy has had a great week and is more trusting and comfortable each day that passes. He is not a fan of this extreme cold weather and has very sensitive paws that require boots for him to stay out long enough to do his business. He had a bath yesterday and was so calm during it all. Ziggy is on Vanectyl-P for his food allergies while we try and find a food that works for him. He’s currently on a very low dose and doing well. Ziggy is an all around great dog to have around–quiet, patient and easy to please.

February 7, 2015 – Ziggy is doing very well. We’re now seeing his full personality and it’s nice to see him get excited and playful. He has shown no interest in playing with the toys or dogs but is happy to “play” with his foster mom. Ziggy is super easy to have around the house. He’s your typical “velcro” pug but is also fine in the kennel when he’s left alone. His new favourite treat is a himalayan dog chew which is great for his teeth. Ziggy is a great companion and has a wonderful disposition.

January 31, 2015 – Ziggy was at the vet a few days ago to have his stitches removed as well as his vaccinations. The staff there were amazed at Ziggy’s transformation. Ziggy is doing fabulously; however, his ears are still infected so it’s back to the antibiotic drops for another week. Ziggy has learned that a warm lap is a wonderful thing. Until a couple days ago he was content to just lay down at my feet and wouldn’t want to stay on my lap. Now he sits at my feet making a tiny whimper sound for me to invite him on my lap where he snuggles right in. Once the arctic temperatures are gone we’ll be able to get him out walking more as he’s very interested to do so.

January 28, 2015 – Toby is doing very well and he is the best puppy. He adores to cuddle and to always be at your feet. January 17, 2015 – Toby is doing very well and he’s a rel cuddler. He LOVES playing and running with the resident dog and adores kids. This beautiful boy is ready to find his forever home.

cleanerJanuary 10, 2015 – Toby is doing fabulous. He has longer periods without the cone now but the odd time will start rubbing so the cone goes back on immediately. He is constantly playing with toys or Poncho – the resident Boston Terrier or the girls. He has torn the squeaker out of his Christmas duck. We threw that part in the garbage and all the stuffing so now he just drags around the outside. In the last week he’s had a couple accidents in the house but I think it’s because of the cold. He still likes the outside but changes his mind when it’s windy and icy out. ‎Anyone thinking of adopting him MUST be ok with snuggling. He needs and loves and thrives on constant contact. When I cook he sits at my feet and moves when I move. When I’m at the computer, he either wants to lays across my lap or sit at my feet. When we play board games or cards, he either digs at your lap to get up. We of course find it endearing and amusing and love the cuddles.

December 28, 2014 – Toby was at the vet yesterday. His ulcer in his is getting better but the vet mentioned that it was a very ddep ulcer left untreaten which is why it takes a bit more time to heal.
His medication has been changved and Toby is now on Prednisone and Tobramicin for a few weeks then we will have him rechecked.

Toby is a cuddle bug and will not hesitate to jump on someone’s lap to get attention – he is very good with kids and other dogs. He has received a large squeeky duck for Christmas and it has become his favorite toy. As soon as his eye is healed, he will be available for adoption.

TobyDec29December 24, 2014 – Toby was at the vet on December 20 and the ulcer inb his right eye is still there. He will continue on the Ciloxan 4 times a day and is going for a recheck on Saturday December 27.

December 15, 2014 – Toby was at the vet on Saturday and his ulcer is still not healed completely. He has to continue the Ciloxan 4 times a day and go back for a recheck this Saturday.

December 9, 2014 – Toby is doing very well. He is going back to the vet this week to have his right eye rechecked. He has been a very good boy and wore his cone all day since he had his eye surgery. This amazing boy will make the greatest companion. Toby will soon be available for adoption.

December 3, 2014 – Toby has come a long way and with a whole new perspective on life. Toby is adoring all the attention and love that he is receiving in his foster home. It appears that unlike many pugs, Toby LOVES the snow! His foster family even has a hard time getting him to come back in after his outdoor visits, he is content to roam around and play in the snow. Toby is recovering extremely well from his surgery and the site looks great, almost all swelling is gone. Toby is suited to almost any type of family for his forever home, as he does well with other dogs, with children; he really is an all around loving and wonderful pug that will fit right into any home that is ready to cuddle him to pieces. Toby is getting his sutures removed on December 6, he will also get microchipped and will then become available for adoption.

November 27, 2014 – It has been a little over a week since Toby’s introduction to his new life and although down an eye, he is loving every minute of it! Quite the handsome pug, Toby has fully adjusted after having an eye removed and does not appear to notice a difference. This is one special guy who is capturing hearts of those he meets. Toby will need a little more time to heal before he is ready for adoption, however, he came to us neutered, is all up to date in his vaccinations and he will soon get microchipped; Keep an eye on this little lover.

November 20 2014 – Toby had his left eye removed today. The surgery went very well and he’s smoothly recovering at the clinic until tomorrow. He will have to wear a cone for the next 2 weeks until his suture are removed and until his right eye is completely healed. Toby is 23lbs.

November 17, 2914 – Toby went to the vet today and was given medication for his eyes and a pain killer. The vet thinks the left eye won’t be able to be saved and will have to come out.

November 16, 2014 – Toby is an owner surrender. He came to us with eye problems. His left eye is in bad shape and the right one has a big ulcer. Toby is a sweet boy and will be visiting the vet to get assessed tomorrow. Toby is neutered and he’s good with other dogs.
