Shandu / 5 years old / Adoption fees $400 / Home visit scheduled / NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS |
|
May 15, 2013 - Shandu is ready to be adopted. She's the perfect cuddly pug, extremelly friendly and outgoing....she will melt everyone's heart. If you are interested in adopting Shandu, please submit your adoption application form.
May 13, 2013 - Shandu went to the vet today. The vet said that she had only a minor inflammation in her ears. He felt that either the infection was very mild when she was first seen, or that the current medication (Otomax) we are giving her is working. He suggested that we continue giving her the drops for the next 12 days and then have her re-checked. Except for needing to lose a few pounds, she is in excellent health. She weighs 26.5 lbs. She is an absolute little angel wherever she goes. She is one of the most well mannered and well behaved pug I have ever seen. She loves going for rides In the car, and she just lays right down and goes to sleep. At the vet, she shared the waiting room with another dog, a cat, a bird and a rabbit. Shandu was a perfect little visitor by laying quietly at my feet.
May 11, 2013 - Shandu came in today from the SPCA in Gatineau. She was surrendered by her owner. Shandu is 5 years old, she is spayed and up to date in her vaccination. Shandu is VERY friendly and VERY happy. Gets along well with other dogs and LOVES to meet new people and gives kisses. Shandu will be going to the vet on Monday to be treated for a bilateral ear infection. Her teeth appears to be in good condition. Shandu is 25.7lbs and she would benefit from losing 3-4lbs.

Reuben - Pug X / 10 months old / Adoption fees $575 |
|
May 20, 2013 - Reuben is recovering very well from his neutering surgery. He is a very social little man and seems to like all types and size of dogs. He is still so much a puppy and enjoys fetch a ball and will actually bring it back to you. He also loves the antlers and Nylabones to chew on. Reuben needs more practise on the leash; he doesn't pull, but he is all over the place. Reuben loves to be cuddles and kissed, he is so sweet, he gives kisses back and still has the nice puppy breath. Reuben sleeps in a kennel beside the bed and you dont hear from him until it is time to get up for breakfast. He just wants to be loved and played with, he is such a happy little man. He loves to torment the resident pugs,I think they realize he is just a baby and are being very patient with him. If you are interested in adopting Reuben, please submit your adoption application form.
May 11, 2013 - Reuben was at the vet today for a complete check up and to get vaccination. The vet estimated his age at about 10 months. He's a very healthy little boy and is probably mixed with either a Boston Terrier or a French Bulldog. Reuben is 20lbs and he is getting neutered this coming Monday.
May 9, 2013 - Reuben came in tonite. We think he's mixed with a Boston. He's very nice and friendly, very muc into the humping activity but that should change once he gets neutered. He seems to be a very younbg dog, maybe even less than a year. His teeth are super white. Reuben is going to the vet tomorrow for a complete check and full vaccines. We will then schedule his neutering surgery.
May 8, 2013 - Reuben was saved from a high-kill shelter near Montreal. He is now being fostered in Montreal and will arrive in Ottawa tomorrow. All we know is that Reuben is not neutered and appears to be young. He is fawn and quite active. Stay tuned for more info on Reuben.

Monkey - 7 year old female / Adoption fees $300 |
|
May 16, 2013 - Monkey is doing so well these days and it's such a pleasure fostering this sweet girl. She will always put a smile on our face and is happy to greet you with lots of kisses and a wagging tail whether it's first thing in the morning or when you come home from being away from the house. Monkey likes to cuddle up close to her sister Baobao when they are just napping on their little bed in the living or snoozing on their big pillow bed at night. Since recovering from her spaying, she would be happy never to see a crate again and does fine in the house when left alone. You will usually find Monkey happily awaiting your return at the front door. Monkey enjoys going for walks when the weather is nice and is doing well on leash but is quite content to just stay indoors when it's rainy or cold. If you are interesting in seeing Monkey in person, please come visit us at the Summer PUGSTOCK on May 26 from 10 to 3h30pm.
April 30, 2013 - Monkey is a super friendly pug always excited to meet people and other dogs. She is full of personality and very playful. Monkey likes to be the center of attention most of the time but she plays well with the other pugs. Monkey is going to be very happy getting back to her walks now that her stitches have been removed and is enjoying the freedom of not having to be crated anymore. Monkey is normally an very early riser in the morning but seems to enjoy the comforts of the big doggy bed with her sister Baobao. Unlike her sister, Monkey has no problem with the stairs and getting around the house so like most pugs, she'll always be close by your side. If you'd like to meet Monkey in person, please come down to Brewer Park Farmers Market this coming Sunday to meet her and her sister Baobao.
April 21, 2013 - Well the name Monkey definitely suits this busy girl. At times it's been a challenge keeping her quiet since getting her spayed on Wednesday but, she has settled in well at her foster home. Monkey has to be crated most of the time while she recovers. When she is out of the crate and calms down, she will then settle down beside you and have a nap, usually with her sister Baobao close by. Once Monkey's stitches are removed, we'll be able to let her get back to a normal routine and see her personality shine.
April 18, 2013 - Monkey was spayed yesterday and she had 13 teeth removed. She is 17.2lbs and she is now ready to be adopted. If you are interested in adopting Monkey, plese submit your adoption application form.
April 13, 2013 - Monkey came to us two nights ago and for a girl who is seven, she is very active and always looking for attention. Although this poor girl had a rough start on life, she is not afraid of humans and loves to jump all over you. Once she has settled in more, we'll work on her manners. Monkey went for her first walk yesterday and she was very good on the leash so based on her energy, she will need regular walks. Monkey is getting used to good quality food and like a typical pug, seems to have no problem with her appetite. Monkey had a bath yesterday morning so smells fresh and clean and is going to the vet on April 17 to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. Stay tuned for more updates on Monkey as we get to learn more about this sweet, beautiful girl.
April 10, 2013 - Monkey came in tonite with her sister Baobao. Both were used for breeding and they were quiet during their transpot from Montreal. Monkey is a little more outgoing than her sister Baobao but they both have sweet disposition. Monkey will be visiting the vet in the coming week for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in her vaccination. We will also schedule an appointment to ahve her spayed. Stay tuned for more on Monkey in the coming days. |

Baobao - 7 year old female / Adoption fees $300 |
|
May 16, 2013 - It is so great to see the progress that Baobao is making since first coming to our foster home. This sweet little girl was so super shy and nervous around everything. Baobao is definitely getting more comfortable and confident each day but still could use more socialization. Baobao is doing better on the stairs and will go half way up or down but hasn't quite mastered the full set. While she is independent and doesn't quite cuddle as much as most pugs, unless it's cuddling with her sister Monkey, Baobao still wants you nearby and will let you know that you've forgotten to help her up or down the stairs so she can be on the same floor as you. Baobao is learning to be more comfortable and secure on her walks and actually gets quite excited when we put her harness on her although she sometimes needs a little coaxing to get out the door. Baobao has recently started to play with some toys and also enjoys a little bit of fetch. If you'd like to meet Baobao, she'll be at the upcoming Summer PUGSTOCK on May 26th from 10 to 3h30pm at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre.
April 30, 2013 - Baobao is coming out of her shell more and more each day. She is still a bit timid when meeting people the first few times but is getting more confident. Baobao loves to play with her sister Monkey and now that she's fully recovered from her spaying, she's ready to run around both inside the house and in the backyard chasing her and the other foster, Lima. Baobao has also found an interest in some stuffed toys and is enjoying playing with them. Last night was her first night out of the crate and sleeping on her big pillow with Monkey and they did great. They actually both slept in and didn't wake until they heard the alarm go off. Now that Baobao's stitches are out, we are going to work on getting her to go up and down the stairs by herself as she is still unsure of them. If you want to meet to meet this little girl, come to Brewer Park Farmers Market this coming Sunday.
April 21, 2013 - Baobao is getting more comfortable in her foster home but it's going to take some time for her to build her confidence. Baobao is still very shy when you try to pet her or pick her up but we just have to let her come to us and she's learning that petting is an enjoyable experience. Her appetite is starting to grow. Baobao has learned how to use the steps on the back deck but still will not go up or down the stairs in the house. We carry her up and down the stairs but that is needed anyway since being spayed so we'll work on the stairs after her stitches have been removed. Baobao is pretty quiet most of the time so crating her during her recovery hasn't been that bad. We can't wait until her stitches are out so we can get this girl outside more to be socialized with both people and other dogs.
April 18, 2013 - Baobao was spayed yesterday and she had her teeth cleaned. She lost 8 teeth and she is 14lbs. Baobao is now ready to be adopted, if you are interested in becoming Baobao's forever home, please submit your adoption application.
April 13, 2013 - Baobao arrived two nights ago after being rescued from a backyard breeder. She is the opposite of her sister Monkey and is extremely shy and nervous around people. I'm sure in time she will start to be more comfortable and trusting of people but right now she runs away if you try to pick her up or she cowers right down if you try to pet her. Poor Baobao is also having difficulty walking on hardwood and ceramic floors and she is not familiar with stairs, although she has no problem running around on carpet or outside and she loves to chase her sister when she can. In time, I think this girl will feel more comfortable and blossom into a typical loving pug that never leaves your side. Baobao will be going to the vet on April 17 to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. Check back to see the progress on Baobao and how she comes out of her shell.
April 10, 2013 - Baobao came in tonite along with her sister Monkey. Both were used for breeding. Although shy, they both appear to have a sweet disposition. They were very quiet in the car during their transport from Montreal. They will going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up, to be brought up to date in their vaccination and we will scheduled an appointment to have them spayed. Stay tuned for more info on Baobao ("baby" in chinese) in the coming days. |
