POGO

Age: 12 1/2 years old
Adoption Fees: $300

December 24, 2017 – Pogo went to his forever home today.  He will share his life with Samson, the English Bulldog.

December 6, 2017 – Pogo is doing well and is such a pleasure to spend time with.  He is fully transitioned to his new food (Kangaroo & oat), and we are giving it a bit of time to see how he does.  He still has some itching, so licks his front left paw and scoots with his backside at times.  We have stretched his medicated baths out to every week and a half, but are still doing them as they definitely help. Pogo visited Alight at Night with us and was such a hit.  He was so gentle with the children who wanted to pet him and really soaks up the attention.  It definitely got him in the Christmas spirit 🙂

November 26, 2017 – This beautiful boy is still looking for his forever home.  Pogo is a cuddle bug and would make someone very happy.  He’s great with dogs and kids and has a very mellow temperament.  Pogo’s skin is doing very well and he only needs 1 medicated bath a week + continuing his kangaroo + oat diet.

November 21, 2017 – After six weeks, I finally finished my course of antibiotics! My skin is feeling much better and I am down to a bath once a week or so to keep things in check. I have been having a bit of redness and itching to my backside and paws from allergies, so I am trying a new food (kangaroo + oatmeal) to see if that will help with the last of the itching. Overall, my coat is lush and thick now.  Last week, I had my blood work rechecked as I had a few minor abnormalities previously, and everything was perfect now.  I had my dental cleaning yesterday. I had 8 teeth extracted and I already had 18 teeth missing in my wee mouth.  I felt a bit woozy when I first woke up from the anesthesia, but am feeling good now and ready to eat! I don’t have very many teeth left, so my foster mom soaks my food. I do love to eat and have perfected my begging eyes.  My back right leg gets a bit stiff sometimes with this cold weather, but it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying short walks and trotting around the house. I took a road trip to Sudbury last weekend and was told I am an excellent passenger. I am also good at cuddling on the couch (and bed if you let me up!!)  The vet tech cleaned my ears, clipped my nails and inserted a microchip after my surgery, so I am feeling ready to show off to my potential forever family.

November 20,  2017 – Pogo is doing very well.  His fur is getting better every day.  Pogo is going to the vet today to get his teeth cleaned and get up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.  This exquisite gentleman will be available for adoption in the coming days.  Pogo is by far, the sweetest soul in the world.

October 30, 2017 – Pogo is such a sweet gentleman, he’s the most easy going pug we’ve seen.  He gets along with every dog and he loves everybody.  Pogo is still on antibiotics until next week then the vet will recheck his skin.  It looks much better than he first came to us.  He is still getting bathed twice a week with medicated shampoo and a gel is being applied to his dry sore spots to make it heal.  Pogo will soon get his teeth cleaned and he will be available for adoption.

October 17, 2017 – The vet was pleased with Pogo’s progress in terms of his skin. We will continue his course of antibiotics for another few weeks and reassess.  We will also continue his daily cleaning of his folds – this will be an ongoing maintenance issue. His ear cleaning and medicated baths will be reduced to 1-2 times per week.  While at the vet, they took blood and expressed his anal glands.  Next steps will include dental surgery, trialing an anti-inflammatory for his hind leg, and possibly starting a hypoallergenic diet.  Pogo is taking it all in stride and was quite pleased with himself today.  Come and meet Pogo this Sunday, October 22 at the Howl.O.Ween Pawty at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre in Ottawa from 12 to 330PM.

October 1, 2017 – Pogo has settled well here. I have been soaking his food which he enjoys and his appetite has been good. Only one accident in the house, so I’d say house training is good.  Pogo was at the vet on Tuesday September 26 and we are starting the following regime with a plan to reassess on October 11:
– Twice daily oral antibiotics
– Daily ear drop
-Daily cleaning of folds, toes & groin with antibiotic gel
– Three times weekly medicated bath
– Ear cleaning every two days
Pogo is very friendly and enjoys other pets.  He does like having his crate for a little downtime.

September 24, 2017 – Pogo came in yesterday.  He was surrendered by his owner.  Pogo is 12 1/2 years old and he is neutered.  His skin is in very bad shape with hot spots and scabs all over his body.  Despite his condition, Pogo is a real sweetheart.  He gets along well with other dogs and he’s the sweetest boy.  Upon his arrival, he had a nice bath and we were able to cut his nails without any fuss from Mr. Pogo.  Pogo is going to the vet this coming Tuesday for a complete check up and blood work.  Stay tuned for more on this exquisite furry boy.

DEUCE

Age: 5 yrs and 11 months
Adoption Fees: $400

September 25, 2017 – Deuce has been adopted by his foster family….(:

September 21, 2017 -Deuce has happily tucked himself into his bed after a long day at the Vet to get his teeth cleaned; he lost 7 teeth and already 3 were missing.  His mouth is now all shiny and he will be undergoing some treatment for yeast infection in his ears.  Deuce has lost 1lb since his last weigh in 11 days ago, coming in at a hefty 31.5lbs, so we are starting to see some of the weight come off slowly but surely. Deuce is a happy playful guy who is certainly bringing much joy to the resident kids & pug.  He love, LOVES his squeaky toys, walks & belly rubs.

September 7, 2017 – Deuce had a great long weekend and took to camping like a champ!  He is a very energetic pug despite the extra pounds he is carrying.  He loves to play with soft toys, hard toys & blankets. Deuce loves cuddles & snuggles; he is great with kids and is coming to an understanding with the resident pug that he does not in fact rule the roost, and has to share the people and toys.  He is taking a few short walks a day and those are going very well.  Deuce is going to the vet tomorrow for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.

August 31, 2017 – Deuce arrived today.  He is an owner surrender.  Deuce will be 6 on October 10.  Deuce is neutered.  He is good with other dogs and kids.  Deuce will be going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.  Deuce is very overweight and starting today, will be on limited food intake and slow and regular walks.  Now that the weather is getting cooler, it will be easier on this boy.  Come and meet Deuce this Saturday, September 2 at Pet Valu Glebe (Bank at Strathcona) from 10AM to 4PM.

September 7, 2017 – Daisie is doing very well, she doesn’t mind the rain and loved her bath this week. She is getting more and more cuddly each day. She and the resident pug, Ebony both follow me around and are quick to jump up on my lap when I sit down. They are so cute together and sleep in a heap together at night. They are so bonded on each other.

August 30, 2017 – Daisie is getting spayed on September 11 and she will be available for adoption shortly after.  Come and meet her this Saturday, Sept 2 at Pet Valu on Bank Street @Strathcona in the Glebe from 10AM to 330PM.

August 27, 2017 – We are enjoying having Daisy and watching her come into her own more and more each day.  She is feeling so much better this past week as she is not showing any signs of her UTI.  She gets along very well with the resident dogs and is very playful and energetic. She is a very different dog than when we first got her.  She acts like a little puppy at times, she loves to play. She would need someone who could give her a lot of exercise and attention.  She is getting more and more cuddly each day and seeks out to be petted.  She is getting more trusting of everyone.  She is learning that she is safe in this environment.  At night she sleeps in a crate with her blanket.  She likes her new food and eats well with the other dogs.  She really likes her walks and walks very well on a leash.  Daisy is getting spayed soon.

CHESTER

Age: 11
Adoption Fees: $300

August 30, 2017 – Chester had his teeth cleaned yesterday and he had 5 extractions.  He has lost 1lb and is now down to 25lbs.  The vet said he should lose another 3-4lbs to get to a healthy weight.  Chester is a sweet boy who will melt your heart.  He is a loyal companion and enjoys the company of other dogs.  We are hoping to have Chester adopted with Flora, with whom he came with a few weeks ago.  Come and meet Chester on Saturday September 2 at Pet Valu on Bank Street @Strathcona in the Glebe from 10AM to 4PM.

August 21, 2017 – Chester is a sweet teddy bear.  He is 26lbs of solid muscles although, he could lose a few lbs.  Chester is getting along very well with other dogs and he loves to sleeps against Flora.  We are hoping to have them adopted together as they have been living with each other for many years.  Chester loves to go for walks and chill outside.  He recently went on a camping trip and was very well behaved and loved to spend time in the lake with Flora (feet only).  Chester is getting his teeth cleaned on August 29 and will be available for adoption shortly after.

August 6, 2017 – Chester was surrendered with his friend, Flora.  Chester is 11 years old and he is a pug X.  Chester is neutered, microchipped and up to date in his vaccination.  He will be going to the vet this week for a complete check up.  Chester is good with other dogs and he is a cuddle bug.

BOOMER

Age: 9
Adoption Fees: $300

September 3, 2017 – Boomer is gone to his forever home, he will be sharing his life with a female French Bulldog.
August 21, 2017 – Boomer’s doing great. He’s getting along with the 2 resident pugs and anyone he meets on his walks. He seems to enjoy his brushing and attention. Boomer is on Vanectyl-P for seasonal allergies as he was very itchy –  we hope that we can cut back in a few weeks. Boomer was around children of all ages and he does very well.  Boomer would do good with or without another dog.  He loves the attention and he is a very good balanced boy.
August 11, 2017  – Boomer went to the vets today and received a pretty good report. He has a bit of arthritis in his right front leg. He has small cataracts in both eyes but they are causing no problems with vision. His ears are great, and he used his charm to win over the vet. Boomer gets along well with young children. He is slightly overweight and we’re working on losing 2-3 lbs.
August 8, 2017 – Boomer had a spa day on Sunday and he smell good and his coat is very soft. We walked home and what a fine looking grumble of pugs I had. The resident pugs walking proudly besides Boomer. We walked for about twenty minutes and Boomer did great. When we got home he checked the house out; then it was time to check the outside. Boomer is quite a loveable little boy. He loves attention and to be around you. He eats well and showed no aggression when I played with his dish and face when eating. Boomer is a bit overweight but we will be working on it with limited food intake and regular walks. We went out for an hour yesterday and he did great. When Boomer sleeps he makes a symphony of noises which are quite funny. He loves to sleep on the big bed.
Boomer gets along with the resident pugs very well but is having a bit of a problem adjusting to our cats every now and then. However, he does listen when told to leave them alone so I don’t think it will take much training to take his mind off them.  Boomer is going to the vet this Thursday for a complete check up and to be brought up to date in his vaccination and microchipped.

August 6, 2017 – Boomer was surrendered by his owner.  He’s a sweet boy and he is neutered.  He recently had his teeth cleaned and just needs to be brought up to date in his vaccination and get microchipped.  Boomer needs to shed a few lbs but with a regular walking schedule and controlled food intake, he should be at his healthy weight in no time.

VITTO

Age: 11 years old
Adoption Fees: $300

August 7, 2017 – Vitto has found his forever home with his foster mom…(:

August 1, 2017 – Vitto was at the vet this morning to get his teeth cleaned, he had a few extracted and the rest were polished.  He was also microchipped.  Vitto has very limited eyesight and he is most probably deaf.

July 31, 2017 – Vitto has had a busy week teaching his foster family, and wrapping them around his little paws.  He is responding well to a new quality diet and joint supplements and his mobility has improved already.  He is walking for short periods two or three times a day, and as long as he can feel tension on the lead to tell where he is going he will willingly follow.  Vitto has very limited eyesight or hears nothing, but seems to smell ok, and responds occasionally to vibrations when people walk around.  He does not really acknowledge or interact with the resident pug. He is eating and drinking well.  Would not describe him as cuddly, but when you give him affection he whines and it really seems like he’s trying to tell you something.

July 26, 2017 – Vitto came in today.  He was surrendered by his owner who didn’t have time for him.  Vitto is neutered and up to date in his vaccination.  Vitto is actually being treated for an ear infection and he is having his teeth cleaned on August 1.  Stay tuned for more on this beautiful boy.
