June 12, 2013 - Gigi was spayed today and she had her right eye removed. She's going back to her foster family tonite where she will have a smooth recovery. The vet wants to see her back in 3 days to make sure everything is healing correctly. Gigi will soon be available for adoption.

Gigi One_EyeMay 31, 2013 - After another vet exam, it appears that Gigi's blind eye has to be removed as it will eventually cause her severe pain. She is getting spayed on June 12 and we will have the eye removed at that time. Her left eye is in perfect condition. The vet mentioned that she probably had a non-treated eye injury that caused irreversible damage to her cornea. Stay tuned for more news on Gigi in the coming week. Despite that condition, Gigi has a good appetite and she's always happy to go for walks.

May 29, 2013 - Gigi went to the vet for a complete check up. It appears that she is blind from her right eye and the left one has a mild infection. She has been put on Fucithalmic and Tear Gel for 10 days. She has crystals in her urine and was put on antibiotics for 10 days and on Medical Urinary SO to try to cloear that out. She will get another urine analysis in 2 weeks. Gigi is 22lbs. Gigi is a nice happy pug who gets along well with other dogs. A photo of Gigi will soon be posted.

May 24, 2013 - Gigi came in today from the SPCA in Gatineau. Gigi was found stray and was never claimed. She is a bit overweight and she is not spayed. Gigi has been vaccinated and she is a sweet and friendly girl. She is going to the vet tonite for a complete check up and we will schedule her spaying surgery in the coming week.

He really enjoys socializing with other dogs and has been hanging out with Coco the Boxer/Lab and Fernando the Chihuahua on the weekends. On hot days, he loves to keep cool in a kiddie pool in the backyard as we are introducing him to water. He is clearly well adjusted to his new surroundings and appears to feel right at home. June 3, 2012 - Chewie was at the vet this morning to get neutered but since he was coughing, the vet has decided to postpone the surgery until June 14, he thinks he might have kennel cought so we'll give him time to clear that before he gets neutered. ChunkMay 23, 2013 - Chunk is starting to become more comfortable in his foster home.  When he first arrived he was a scared boy and just stood still but you could see he was trembling from fear.  He was given a nice warm bath and he was quickly running around the house sniffing things out. He is still shy and unsure of humans but we hope that every day, he will become more and more confident.  Chunk is starting to be more playful and gives the odd lick on your hand.  Chunk is going to the vet tomorrow for a full check up and will be scheduled to be neutered in the coming week.

Baobao - 7 year old female / Adoption fees $300 / Home visit scheduled / NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

048June 16, 2013 - Baobao has been adjusting to her foster mom being away from home all day during the week and seems to be adapting well.  Of course the ideal home would be with a family that is around more often but she is content to sleep most of the time.  Baobao enjoys meeting other dogs during our walks so we feel that the best environment to help her feel more secure would be a home with another dog.  She definitely has a playful side and you instantly see this when there is another dog around.  Baobao is a really sweet pug - she has spent most of her life being used for breeding and it's going to take some time for her to trust people but once she has that special bond with someone, you can see that she is just longing for love and attention.  Although Baobao is quite shy, she does have a playful side so if you've been ignoring her, she'll find things to entertain herself with like your shoes or sock.  She is not destructive but these items can end up in her little bed if you're not paying attention.  Please give this beautiful girl a chance.  Baobao has had a tough life for the past seven years and deserves another seven + years of pure love and happiness.

June 4, 2013 - Baobao has adapted well to being the lone dog in her foster home.   Baobao is a reserved little girl, still unsure of some people, however, the more exposure she receives the more she seems to come out of her shell of different ages.   Baobao is far from needy doesn't crave constant attention, instead is content knowing that someone is around.  Baobao is independent and is always able to amuse herself, even with something as small as playing with her little bed, flipping it this way and that. Baobao also enjoys her walks and while at first she may get nervous meeting other dogs of various sizes, once she says hello her tail starts to wag and she seems to want to play.  We are planning to bring her to the dog park soon hoping the experience of meeting lots of dogs and people will help her be more confident.  Baobao did very well at Pugstock last week and just needs to find that perfect home, with or without other dogs, where she'll get lots of TLC.

bao-bao03May 16, 2013 - It is so great to see the progress that Baobao is making since first coming to our foster home.  This sweet little girl was so super shy and nervous around everything.  Baobao is definitely getting more comfortable and confident each day but still could use more socialization.  Baobao is doing better on the stairs and will go half way up or down but hasn't quite mastered the full set.  While she is independent and doesn't quite cuddle as much as most pugs, unless it's cuddling with her sister Monkey, Baobao still wants you nearby and will let you know that you've forgotten to help her up or down the stairs so she can be on the same floor as you.  Baobao is learning to be more comfortable and secure on her walks and actually gets quite excited when we put her harness on her although she sometimes needs a little coaxing to get out the door.  Baobao has recently started to play with some toys and also enjoys a little bit of fetch.

April 30, 2013 - Baobao is coming out of her shell more and more each day.  She is still a bit timid when meeting people the first few times but is getting more confident.  Baobao loves to play with her sister Monkey and now that she's fully recovered from her spaying, she's ready to run around both inside the house and in the backyard chasing her and the other foster, Lima.  Baobao has also found an interest in some stuffed toys and is enjoying playing with them.  Last night was her first night out of the crate and sleeping on her big pillow with Monkey and they did great.  They actually both slept in and didn't wake until they heard the alarm go off.  Now that Baobao's stitches are out, we are going to work on getting her to go up and down the stairs by herself as she is still unsure of them.  If you want to meet to meet this little girl, come to Brewer Park Farmers Market this coming Sunday.

Baobao April_23April 21, 2013 - Baobao is getting more comfortable in her foster home but it's going to take some time for her to build her confidence.  Baobao is still very shy when you try to pet her or pick her up but we just have to let her come to us and she's learning that petting is an enjoyable experience.  Her appetite is starting to grow.  Baobao has learned how to use the steps on the back deck but still will not go up or down the stairs in the house.  We carry her up and down the stairs but that is needed anyway since being spayed so we'll work on the stairs after her stitches have been removed.  Baobao is pretty quiet most of the time so crating her during her recovery hasn't been that bad.  We can't wait until her stitches are out so we can get this girl outside more to be socialized with both people and other dogs.

April 18, 2013 - Baobao was spayed yesterday and she had her teeth cleaned.  She lost 8 teeth and she is 14lbs.  Baobao is now ready to be adopted, if you are interested in becoming Baobao's forever home, please submit your adoption application.

April 13, 2013 - Baobao arrived two nights ago after being rescued from a backyard breeder.  She is the opposite of her sister Monkey and is extremely shy and nervous around people.  I'm sure in time she will start to be more comfortable and trusting of people but right now she runs away if you try to pick her up or she cowers right down if you try to pet her.  Poor Baobao is also having difficulty walking on hardwood and ceramic floors and she is not familiar with stairs, although she has no problem running around on carpet or outside and she loves to chase her sister when she can.  In time, I think this girl will feel more comfortable and blossom into a typical loving pug that never leaves your side.  Baobao will be going to the vet on April 17 to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned.  Check back to see the progress on Baobao and how she comes out of her shell.

April 10, 2013 - Baobao came in tonite along with her sister Monkey.  Both were used for breeding.  Although shy, they both appear to have a sweet disposition.  They were very quiet in the car during their transport from Montreal. They will going to the vet in the coming week for a complete check up, to be brought up to date in their vaccination and we will scheduled an appointment to have them spayed.  Stay tuned for more info on Baobao ("baby" in chinese) in the coming days.
